Our newest stamp commemorates the 100th anniversary of the official incorporation of The Royal Canadian Legion.

Founded to assist service members returning from the First World War, the Legion has grown into a national cornerstone of remembrance, advocacy and assistance for all who have served – both at home and in conflicts and peacekeeping missions around the world.

Its National Poppy Campaign unites Canadians in honouring the fallen and recognizing veterans, for whom it raises funds to support vital programs and services.

Backed by 270,000 military and civilian members at 1,350 branches across Canada, the Legion’s volunteers carry its mission forward to future generations.

Happy 100th Anniversary-July 17th, 2026

100 years of supporting Canada's Veterans

2026 marks a once-in-a-lifetime milestone: a century of standing with Veterans, strengthening communities, and honouring the memory of those who served.

Founded in 1925 at the Unity Conference, the Legion began with a clear mission — to support Veterans, advocate for their rights, and ensure the act of Remembrance continues. On July 17, 1926, the Legion was officially incorporated by a special Act of Parliament, now recognized as our anniversary.

Know someone dedicated to improving the lives of Veterans? Nominate them for the Minister of Veterans Affairs Commendation.

This year, as The Royal Canadian Legion marks its 100th anniversary on July 17, we recognize the countless volunteers who have supported Veterans for generations.

Legion volunteers lead Remembrance Day ceremonies, help Veterans and their families access benefits and services, and provide peer support.

For their service and dedication to Canadian Veterans – we thank Legion volunteers, many of whom have received the Minister of Veterans Affairs Commendation in recognition of their commitment.
