What an incredible success the AHEA Homeschool Conference was!

It was inspiring to see so many homeschooling families from across Alberta gather together for encouragement, connection, and learning. Events like these remind us of the strength, dedication, and vibrant community that exists within the homeschool movement.

We are especially grateful for the support of leaders who recognize the value of educational choice and parental involvement in education. Pictured here is Patty Marler from HSLDA Canada with Jennifer Johnson, Alberta MLA, for Lacombe-Ponoka.

Thank you to everyone who attended, volunteered, exhibited, and helped make this year's conference such a meaningful experience. Together, we are building strong families, thriving learners, and a bright future for homeschooling in Alberta.

Mud puddles, climbing trees, exploring nature, and embracing a little messiness - outdoor education offers so much more than fresh air.

This article explores how giving children opportunities to take risks, build resilience, and connect with the natural world can help prepare them for life’s challenges.

A great reminder for homeschool families and educators alike!

Sticks in the Mud: 7 Ways to Get Stuck on Outdoor Education

It used to be all about keeping children clean and safe. But then studies began to show that indoor living, a lack of autonomy, and preventing exposure to all germs, leaves children . . . ill-prepared to meet normal life changes. Find it at TOSMagazine.com, or download the app at TOSApps.com

Rainy days have a way of slowing us down and creating space for connection, creativity, and wonder. Whether it's curling up with a good book, baking together, diving into a science experiment, or building epic blanket forts, some of our best homeschool memories are made when the weather keeps us indoors.

As the weather gets warmer, it's the perfect time to take learning outdoors.

Love these ideas about bringing homeschool beyond the kitchen table and into the "outdoor" classroom. Some of the best learning happens through exploring, discovering, and enjoying nature together.

Here are some ways to take your homeschool outside, adapt your homeschool schedule to give your family some outside time, and plan fun outdoor studies into your schoolwork.
