**Update Regarding the wording change to the 2026 Saskatchewan Home-based Education Notification Form**

This year, the Ministry of Education updated the notification form and added a note that:

“A home-based education in Saskatchewan is delivered by a parent/guardian in the home. Cooperative home-based education or shared teaching with another family is not permissible.”

Nothing has changed in the law, regulations, or policy manual and this caution is not directed at the very common weekly homeschool co-op model. It is directed at alternative educational arrangements where parents are taking a much less active role in their children’s education (i.e., dropping children off to be educated by others multiple days per week). Such an arrangement may be crossing the line between a co-op and an unregistered private school.

The ability for parents to choose home education for their children is a freedom worth protecting. While homeschooling is currently well-supported in many parts of Canada, policies can change, and that’s why CCHE continues to advocate year-round for homeschool families.

Through legal advocacy, government relations, leadership development, and support for families, CCHE works to ensure the voices of homeschoolers are represented across Canada.

CCHE receives no government funding. This important work is made possible because of generous supporters who believe parents should have the freedom to choose the educational path that is best for their children.
