Scouts Canada extends its deepest sympathy upon the passing of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II. The Queen ascended the throne at a young age and devoted her life to public and voluntary service which she saw as one of the most important elements of her work.

The Queen had links - as Royal Patron or President - with over 600 charities, including Scouts.
Of Scouts the Queen once said “Scouting is a global force for good. In this country and around the world, Scouts are helping others and making the most of their lives.”

Please read this tribute from Chief Ambassador of World Scouting, Bear Grylls, to her extraordinary service.

My name is Krista and I work for the St. Clair Region Conservation Authority. I am reaching out to you because I thought that local Scouts groups may be interested in an event we are hosting. I thought I'd offer the information and you can decide to let local groups know if you desire.
The Spectacular Sydenham Species at Risk Art Contest is an all ages, any media type art contest that focuses on Species at Risk from the local Sydenham River. It is completely free to enter and there are some great prizes including a 2-night campground pass. There is also a colouring page contest for children under twelve. The deadline for submissions is May 1st, 2022.
We are holding this contest as a way to raise awareness of the important species and environment close to home and to open people’s eyes to the wonders of nature. I'm bring this to your attention because it might fit somewhere within your programs such as in the Scouts for Sustainability Life Below Water program.
You can read all about the contest here: https://www.sydenhamriver.on.ca/2022-art/
The website also has some great resources for learning more about aquatic species at risk if you are interested.
Thank-you for your time, if you have any questions please feel free to contact me at this email address [email protected]
