One of our residents had a lifelong love of music. It was part of who he was and during his time at Hospice, it continued to bring him comfort, joy, and connection.
Friends stopped by with their guitars to play some of his favourite songs. He spent an afternoon watching a documentary about The Beatles. And one day, our team walked into his room to find him dancing in his wheelchair to Bruno Mars. To this day, we’re still not sure how he managed to find that channel but somehow, it was exactly what he needed. It made all of us smile.
That’s what Hospice is all about.
It’s about making space for the things that bring people joy. It’s about creating moments that families will remember long after they’ve said goodbye. It’s about living, laughing, singing, and yes... even dancing.
After he passed peacefully, his family shared how grateful they were for the care, compassion, and kindness they experienced during their time with us. There is no greater gift than hearing those words.
We are thankful for families and friends who also share their talents, like this with our residents and staff. It brings warmth, love and joy to our hospice home.
