Dear All,
It was 5 years ago on a day like tomorrow, ( June 6th, 2021)โ,the horrendous attack and murder on ๐ข๐๐ฟ ๐๐ผ๐ป๐ฑ๐ผ๐ป ๐๐ฎ๐บ๐ถ๐น๐ took place in our own London and is a stark reminder that hatred, racism, and Xenophobia are not distant problemsโthey exist within our own neighborhoods.
As an immigrant and cultural organization, London Ontario Malayalee Association (LOMA) understands that diversity is Londonโs greatest strength. However, diversity can only thrive where there is absolute safety, mutual respect, and inclusion.
โOver the past five years, our community has engaged in vital conversations about discrimination, but as local leaders note, the work is far from finished. Racism and Xenophobia continue to manifest in daily interactions, online spaces, and systemic barriers. We cannot afford to look away or treat the events of June 6, 2021, as an isolated anomaly. Hate is a message meant to divide us and strip away our sense of safety. Our only response must be unwavering unity and solidarity in the midst of these adversities.
LOMA stands united and unequivocally condemns all forms of hate, discrimination and Xenophobia and reaffirm our commitment to fight it vehemently within the ambits of the law of the land.
Warm Regards,
Abe Thomas,
Secretary, LOMA
