Dear All,

It was 5 years ago on a day like tomorrow, ( June 6th, 2021),the horrendous attack and murder on 𝗢𝘂𝗿 𝗟𝗼𝗻𝗱𝗼𝗻 𝗙𝗮𝗺𝗶𝗹𝘆 took place in our own London and is a stark reminder that hatred, racism, and Xenophobia are not distant problems—they exist within our own neighborhoods.

As an immigrant and cultural organization, London Ontario Malayalee Association (LOMA) understands that diversity is London’s greatest strength. However, diversity can only thrive where there is absolute safety, mutual respect, and inclusion.

Over the past five years, our community has engaged in vital conversations about discrimination, but as local leaders note, the work is far from finished. Racism and Xenophobia continue to manifest in daily interactions, online spaces, and systemic barriers. We cannot afford to look away or treat the events of June 6, 2021, as an isolated anomaly. Hate is a message meant to divide us and strip away our sense of safety. Our only response must be unwavering unity and solidarity in the midst of these adversities.

LOMA stands united and unequivocally condemns all forms of hate, discrimination and Xenophobia and reaffirm our commitment to fight it vehemently within the ambits of the law of the land.

Greetings from LOMA!

On behalf of London Ontario Malayalee Association and all Malayalees in London, Ontario,
We would like to extend our heartiest congratulations to 𝗩𝗮𝗱𝗮𝘀𝘀𝗲𝗿𝘆 𝗗𝗮𝗺𝗼𝗱𝗮𝗿𝗮𝗻 𝗦𝗮𝘁𝗵𝗲𝗲𝘀𝗵𝗮𝗻 ( popularly known as V D Satheeshan or 𝗩𝗗𝗦) on leading the United Democratic Front ( UDF) to a thumping victory in the recently concluded legislative elections and also on his appointment as the 𝟭𝟯𝘁𝗵 𝗖𝗵𝗶𝗲𝗳 𝗠𝗶𝗻𝗶𝘀𝘁𝗲𝗿 𝗼𝗳 𝗞𝗲𝗿𝗮𝗹𝗮.

VDS was born to K. Damodara Menon and V. Vilasini Amma in a Hindu Nair family on 31 May 1964 in Nettoor, Kochi.He completed his primary education from Panangad High School, under-graduation from Sacred Heart College, Thevara, and post-graduation in Social Work (MSW) from Rajagiri College of Social Sciences. He then completed his Bachelor of Laws (LLB) from Kerala Law Academy Law College and Master of Laws (LLM) from Government Law College,Thiruvananthapuram.

For approximately 10 years, Mr.Satheesan practised law in the Kerala High Court. He is married to R. Lakshmi Priya, and the couple have a daughter Unnimaya.

His leadership and dedication have clearly resonated with the people, and we wish him the very best as he take on the responsibilities of this esteemed office. We look forward to seeing the Kerala Model thrive under his guidance.

We also would like to pause and take a moment to thank the 𝗼𝘂𝘁𝗴𝗼𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗖𝗠 𝗠𝗿. 𝗣𝗶𝗻𝗮𝗿𝗮𝘆𝗶 𝗩𝗶𝗷𝗮𝘆𝗮𝗻 and all other outgoing ministers in his cabinet for their services and contributions to our State of Kerala over the past 5 years.

We congratulate VDS and all the ministers in the upcoming ministry once again, on this remarkable achievement and wish them the very best in serving the best interests of the people of Kerala and beyond.

Dear LOMA fraternity,

Good Morning to you all !

As part of LOMA's Community Visibility Initiative , we had a productive meeting with the community outreach division of London Police Service yesterday .

We discussed the role of our community in the society we live in and the issues of particular concern that were brought to our attention in the recent past by a few members. We raised our concerns regarding online and physical attack against our community members with racial overtones, hit and run accident of (Late) Jibin C Binoy, among other things.

Both the officers present were very patient in listening to us and committed their full support in tackling racial and discriminatory attacks. They offered us to do a couple of community education sessions to know us better and also to address issues of racism . They have also offered to do a session on' Career in Policing' for those interested. The officers were very keen in learning our culture and expressed their willingness to participate in our Association programs and other events where the Malayalee community gathers in large numbers.

We will be following up on this with LPS and will update you all at the appropriate time . Watch this space.

Statistics Canada will be sending out census cards starting next week via Canada Post. Its very important that we complete the census survey to build our community in a constructive way.

The next Census of Population will begin May 4, 2026.
Census data are essential for planning a wide range of programs and services, including education, health care, transportation, and labour market programs. These data form a critical foundation for evidence-based decision-making across jurisdictions and help ensure resources are aligned with the needs of Canadians.

The information you provide helps plan services in our community that support employment, transit, education, health care, and more.

All Canadian households will receive a census invitation letter in the mail with a Secure Access Code and instructions on how to complete their questionaire.

All information is collected under the authority of the Statistics Act and will be kept strictly confidential.

‼️With Humility & Conviction- Ready to Serve‼️

The Annual General Body Meeting of London Ontario Malayalee Association convened on March 28/ 2026 entrusted a few members of the association to carry the mantle for the next 2 years. There was a minor shuffle with the approval of The Board Of Directors since a couple of members expressed their unavailability due to some other unavoidable commitments , which we gracefully accepted.
