We would like to bring to your attention the fantastic gift that 1st Strathroy Scouts was presented with recently.
The Canada 911 Ride Foundation makes an annual donation to support the families of fallen first responders. Last year, because there was no family in need of assistance, the Foundation donated an AED to the Ontario Association of Chiefs of Police to be given to a charity of its choosing. Mark Campbell, Chief of Police for Strathroy-Caradoc Police Service and current director of the OACP, selected the 1st Strathroy Scouts as the recipient of this donation.
The 1st Strathroy Scouts are deeply rooted in the community, with more than 150 youth members and adult volunteers representing a broad cross-section of local families. With Scout sections meeting throughout the week, members may be at the Scout House or taking part in activities across the region. Having a portable AED provides an added layer of safety, ensuring a life-saving device can be available wherever Scouts are volunteering, hiking, or camping.
This donation was made possible through the support of the Mikey Network, an organization dedicated to placing publicly accessible defibrillators in communities and providing education that helps save lives during sudden cardiac emergencies. Their contribution, along with the strong partnership between the Scouts, the local police service, and the Canada 911 Ride Foundation, will help keep our members safer during all of their adventures.
The presentation took place today at the Police Services Board Meeting in Strathroy. Present were Chief Mark Campbell, Chief Jeff McGuire, Scouter Lauren Monteith, Scouter Ken Dunsmore, Scouter Richard McCammon, Scouter Ian Johnston, Scouter, Chris Cornelis, Scouter Leo Verberne, Scouter Abby Neumann, Scout Max Neumann, Scout Porter Teall-Cornelis, and Cub Oliver Neumann.
Yours in Scouting,
Lauren
