Join us on June 19 from 12:00–4:00 PM at the Goodwill Centre on Horton Street for an important afternoon of conversation, reflection, and community as we recognize World Refugee Day.

This year’s event will feature:
- A keynote address by Alfredo Caxaj, founder of Sunfest, sharing his experience as an immigrant and how it led to creating one of London’s most celebrated festivals focused on culture, inclusion, and community.

Two engaging panels:
- A refugee panel centred on lived experiences, resilience, and the voices of newcomers in our community
- A service provider panel exploring the realities of working in the settlement sector, the changes and challenges we are facing, and how we can better support ourselves while continuing to support newcomers

And lastly, a wellness and resiliency workshop focused on mental health, self-care, and sustainable support. Because there is no health without mental health.

This is a must-attend event for the settlement sector, community members, and anyone passionate about creating a more welcoming community for all.

Eid al-Adha is a meaningful celebration observed by Muslims around the world. This year, the celebration begins around May 27.

Often referred to as the “Festival of Sacrifice,” it is a time of reflection, gratitude, prayer, and generosity. Families and communities come together to share meals, give to those in need, and uphold values of compassion, humility, and faith.

At its heart, Eid al-Adha is a reminder of the importance of caring for one another and recognizing the blessings we share. It also highlights the richness and diversity within Muslim communities and the many cultural traditions that shape how this celebration is observed around the world.

To all who observe, Eid Mubarak. Wishing you peace, joy, and meaningful time with loved ones.

May is a time to recognize and celebrate both Asian Heritage Month and Jewish Heritage Month.

Asian Heritage Month is an opportunity to honour the rich diversity, histories, and contributions of Asian communities across Canada and around the world. Asian heritage is not one single story; it reflects many cultures, languages, identities, and generations. This month also invites reflection on the importance of belonging and inclusion, while acknowledging the barriers many Asian communities continue to face, including racism, stereotypes, and inequities. It is a time to learn, listen, and uplift the many voices and experiences that strengthen our communities every day.

May is also Jewish Heritage Month, a time to recognize and celebrate the history, culture, and contributions of Jewish communities in Canada. Jewish heritage is rooted in traditions of faith, resilience, learning, creativity, and community. Jewish Canadians have made meaningful contributions across many fields, including science, literature, business, advocacy, the arts, and public service. This month is also an important opportunity to reflect on the ongoing reality of antisemitism and the importance of actively standing against hate in all its forms, while strengthening understanding, respect, and belonging for all.

Together, these observances invite us to learn from diverse histories and lived experiences, celebrate contributions that shape our society, and continue building communities grounded in inclusion, dignity, and respect.

Thank you to everyone who joined us for the VON Canada Information Session & Networking Event on May 14, 2026. We were pleased to host an engaging and insightful discussion with VON Canada.

We appreciate the time and expertise shared by representatives from Victorian Order of Nurses - VON, who provided an overview of their organization, workplace culture, and current and upcoming opportunities across roles such as Personal Support Workers (PSWs), Registered Practical Nurses (RPNs), and Client Support positions.

The session created a valuable space for open conversation between the employer and job seekers. Participants gained a clearer understanding of expectations in the healthcare sector, including key role requirements and some of the common challenges newcomers may face when entering the field.

A key focus of the discussion was the importance of empathy, compassion, patience, and strong time management skills for PSWs, all of which are essential to providing high-quality, person-centred care.

Overall, the event helped strengthen connections, deepen understanding of the sector, and support participants as they explore meaningful careers in healthcare.

We are pleased to be presenting at the Mapping Your Future Workforce event on June 4, 2026 from 9:00 AM to 11:00 AM at Blyth Festival, 423 Queen St, Blyth, ON.

This event is organized by the Huron County Immigration Partnership, Huron Chamber of Commerce, Township of North Huron, and WILL Employment Solutions, with support from Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada.

This interactive session is designed for employers, HR professionals, and community partners looking for practical strategies to address labour shortages through inclusive hiring practices.

We will explore how to better attract, integrate, and retain immigrant talent by shifting from credential-based hiring to a focus on transferable skills and capabilities. Participants will gain practical tools for skills mapping, inclusive onboarding, and improving long-term retention, along with strategies to address rural workforce challenges such as transportation, housing, and workplace integration.

Following the County of Huron’s announcement of its new employer guide publication, attendees will also be introduced to a newly launched employer-focused resource designed to support inclusive hiring and workforce development practices. Today we recognize the International Day Against Homophobia, Biphobia, and Transphobia (IDAHOBIT). This day is a reminder that everyone deserves to live, work, and access services free from discrimination and fear. It also acknowledges both the progress that has been made and the ongoing discrimination many 2SLGBTQIA+ people continue to face.

At WILL Employment Solutions, we stand with 2SLGBTQIA+ communities and remain committed to creating welcoming and respectful spaces for all clients, employers, and staff.

We encourage ongoing reflection and action as we work toward communities where everyone can belong. This includes continuing to learn, challenge bias, and support inclusion in meaningful ways.
