We demand justice for Salford Council worker Ameen Hadi.

While stewarding the Manchester Together Against the Far Right Rally, Ameen was filmed defending himself and MP Hannah Spencer from far-right agitators.

After a coordinated campaign by the far right resulted in thousands of complaints being made to the council, Ameen was suspended. This is despite no criminal charges having been brought.

Ameen is a tireless antiracist voice within UNISON and the wider community. We call on Salford Council to immediately reinstate him instead of bowing to pressure from the far right.

As we did not reach the 50% threshold of votes for industrial action, UNISON have reluctantly accepted the 3.3% pay offer.

We are hoping that proposed changes to industrial action legislation - including email balloting and the removal of the 50% threshold - will lower the requirements for future ballots.
