Today is World Environment Day 🌎

At YMCA, caring for our communities also means caring for the places we share — the parks, trails, waterways, neighbourhoods, and outdoor spaces that help people connect, play, grow, and belong.

Environmental care is part of building healthier communities. From reducing waste and protecting green spaces to making more sustainable choices in our programs, facilities, and daily routines, small actions can make a meaningful difference when we take them together.

Today and every day, we’re grateful for the staff, volunteers, families, and community members who help make care for the environment part of YMCA life.

Day Camp leadership training is underway! ☀️

This week, 50 Day Camp Directors, Assistant Directors, One-to-One Coordinators, Regional Coordinators, and senior leaders are coming together from across our 20 Day Camp sites, including YMCA Health, Fitness & Aquatics locations and Outdoor Day Camp locations throughout Southwestern Ontario.

This two-day gathering is all about preparing our teams to lead with confidence, care, and YMCA values this summer. From values-driven leadership and child guidance principles to practical leadership guidelines that help create safe, welcoming, and fun camp experiences, our leaders are getting ready for an incredible season ahead.

And of course, it wouldn’t be YMCA Day Camp without a little camp fun along the way.

We can’t wait to see the impact these leaders will have on campers, families, and communities this summer. 💛

National Indigenous History Month is an opportunity to recognize and celebrate the histories, cultures, voices, and contributions of First Nations, Inuit, and Métis Peoples. It is also a meaningful time to reflect on the importance of truth, reconciliation, and consistent action toward a more equitable future.

At YMCA, we continue to deepen our understanding of Indigenous histories, perspectives, and experiences. Through ongoing learning and relationship building, we remain dedicated to fostering spaces where Indigenous voices, cultures, and experiences are honoured and uplifted.

This Pride Month, we celebrate the strength and brilliance of YMCA staff, volunteers, members, participants, donors, and partners who are part of the 2SLGBTQIA+ community.

YMCA continues to be committed to creating welcoming, inclusive spaces where everyone feels safe, valued, and supported to be their authentic selves. While progress has been made, there is still important work ahead, and we remain dedicated to advancing equity, belonging, and well-being for all.

When you think about the future, who do you hope it’s brighter for?

For many YMCA donors, planned giving is a way to support the next generation long after today, helping ensure children, youth, and families continue to have access to programs that build confidence, belonging, leadership, and opportunity.

A gift in your will can help a child experience camp, a teen discover their potential, a newcomer find community, or a family access support when they need it most.

Your legacy can help the next generation thrive.

Leave the legacy that you want with a planned gift. For more information contact:
