🌭🌾 Last Friday, we had the pleasure of hosting a Welcome BBQ for farmworkers in Simcoe! 🀍

It was a wonderful afternoon filled with food, community, conversation, and warm welcomes for the workers arriving this season. Events like these remind us how important connection and support are for those who contribute so much to our communities every day.

This event was made possible through a great partnership between Huron Farmworkers Ministry, TNO, and IAWWP 🀝

A sincere thank you to everyone who attended, participated, and helped make the event such a success. We also want to thank all the organizations that joined us and shared valuable resources and support with the workers.

A moment of faith, hope, and unity 🀍

In this video, Father Enrique shares a special blessing for our farmworkers, lifting up prayers for their families back home and asking for protection, strength, and guidance during the 9 months they will be here working 🌾

Though distance separates them from their loved ones, moments like these remind us that they are not alone. As a community, we walk alongside them with care, support, and faith.

May this season be safe, fruitful, and filled with blessings for each and every one of them πŸ™

Today we celebrate Cinco de Mayo πŸ‡²πŸ‡½

This day commemorates the Battle of Puebla, a moment in history where courage, unity, and faith stood strong even against great challenges. It reminds us that strength is not only found in numbers, but in the spirit of people who refuse to give up.

For many of our farmworkers, this day carries a deeper meaning, a connection to home, culture, and family 🌾

As we celebrate, we also take a moment to lift a prayer:
May God bless their efforts, protect their journey, and keep their loved ones safe back home. May hope walk beside them in every field, and may their work be filled with purpose and dignity πŸ™

Happy Cinco de Mayo from all of us at Huron Farmworkers Ministry πŸ’š

Last Thursday, we had the pleasure of welcoming a large group of farmworkers arriving at Sandy Shore Farms 🌾

We gathered to greet them with a delicious BBQ, good food, and even better company. It was wonderful to see familiar faces returning this season, and to warmly welcome those who are new this year. You are all part of this community 🀍

Huron Farmworkers Ministry is here for you. We are available to support you in any way you may need throughout the season.

A special thank you to TNO, The Neighbourhood Organization for their continued partnership and for joining us at the event to share valuable information about the services they offer to workers. Together, we grow stronger 🌱
