PRISM Community Hub

PRISM Community Hub We dream of a space where q***r people don’t just survive – we thrive.

Prism Community Hub is a growing initiative by Why We March, creating an inclusive space — both virtual and physical — where 2SLGBTQIA+ individuals can connect, access support, and build community.

To our community,

With care and reflection, we are writing to share that the Prism Community Hub project is coming to a close.

Prism began as a hope—an idea shaped by the belief that our communities deserve more than survival. We dreamed of a shared space where people could gather, create, learn, heal, and belong. A place rooted in safety, connection, and possibility.

Over time, Prism became more than a concept. It became conversations. It became planning tables and late-night meetings. It became community voices, community needs, and community imagination. It reminded us what happens when people dare to build something together.

But we have also learned something important: shared spaces require shared stewardship. They are held up not only by walls, but by many hands and many hearts moving in the same direction. And in this season, that collective foundation has not come together in the way Prism needs in order to grow and truly thrive.

Because of that, we are closing this chapter.

This decision is not made lightly. It comes with grief, but also clarity. And it comes with deep respect for what Prism was always meant to be—a space built with community, not just for it.

While the Prism Community Hub may be ending, the work is not.

The values behind Prism—care, advocacy, education, solidarity, and community resilience—remain at the centre of Why We March. We will continue showing up, building what is possible, and investing in initiatives that are sustainable, accessible, and rooted in real community capacity.

We want to say thank you.

Thank you to everyone who believed in this vision. Thank you to those who offered support, time, ideas, encouragement, and hope. Thank you to those who showed up in conversation, who held space for dreaming, and who reminded us why this work matters.

Prism may be closing, but community is still here. And we are still here—with you.

With gratitude and care,

Why We March

Being Q***r Over the Holidays

For many in the 2SLGBTQIA+ community, the holiday season isn’t simple. It can be joyful—and it can be hard. It can mean laughter with chosen family, or quiet evenings of self-protection. For some, it brings affirmation. For others, it brings discomfort, pressure, or being unseen.

No matter where you are, or who you’re with, we want you to know:

🌈 Your identity is valid.
🌈 Your feelings—whatever they are—are valid.
🌈 You deserve love, respect, and peace.
🌈 You are not alone.

Some of us lean into community. Some of us retreat into solitude. Some of us celebrate loudly. Some just try to make it through. All of these responses are real and human.

If this season feels heavy, please remember:
You are part of a wider q***r family that spans this city, this country, and beyond—people who understand and who care.

At Why We March, we’re here for you. Whether through community programs, support spaces, advocacy, or simply reminding you that you belong, today and every day.

🧣 Take care of yourself.
🕯️ Be gentle with your heart.
🤝 Reach out if you need connection.

We see you. We appreciate you. We march with you.

Today, we honour the Survivors of residential schools, their families, and the children who never made it home. We acknowledge the ongoing impact of colonialism and commit to listening, learning, and taking action toward reconciliation.

Reconciliation is not a single day—it is a lifelong journey. Let us remember, reflect, and work together for justice and healing.

📚 Learn.
🧡 Remember.
