🦊We appreciate the work of Wildlife Rescue Society of Saskatchewan! 🦊
While responding to a call in the Lloydminster area, our team met with a member of the public regarding a lone fox kit that required assistance.
We were advised that the adult fox at the den site had been lethally removed, and that the remaining young, while still in the den, were also killed. This kit had been held in a live trap for an extended period of time before being brought forward for assistance.
As we already had team members, Bonnie & Alex, travelling through the region, arrangements were made to meet in Lloydminster so the kit could be safely transferred into our care and transported to Saskatoon.
This young fox is now the only known survivor from the den and is currently receiving care and stability after a very difficult start to life.
Situations like this are a stark reminder of how quickly wildlife circumstances can escalate, and how many outcomes are determined before we ever receive a call. A single early phone call can completely change what is possible in a situation like this, opening the door to humane, evidence-based responses that protect both wildlife and people. When contact happens early, options remain open. When it doesn’t, those options can disappear in an instant.
