Information and events like this are so needed in our community. Wonderful partnership between the Rosefinch Mercantile & Tea Room and South Shore Multicultural Association. Well done.

These are expensive times, and it’s safe to assume that things will not be getting any cheaper any time soon. Too many members of our community are facing food insecurity in some way, shape or form. This is an issue that is becoming more prevalent as the cost of groceries continues to rise. It’s safe to say that we can all use a little extra help when it comes to learning how to make the most of the groceries we work so hard to buy.
Well- We can finally announce that and .mercantile have partnered with the South Shore Multicultural Association to bring you Soupy Saturdays!
For 4 consecutive Saturdays starting on February 22nd we’ll be offering cooking classes!! These sessions will focus on how to make the most of the most inexpensive ingredients. I’ll be teaching you some of the tips and tricks that will help you take your cooking to the next level!!
These sessions require registration, classes will be capped at 8 participants. Oh- and did I mention that these sessions are FREE!? Although you are more than welcome to register for all of the classes, all of them are designed to stand alone. Register for any or all of the sessions. Every class will see you leave with a container of soup or stew, any other food items we prepare, and a ton of new skills!! The first class will teach you how to break down and use all the parts of a whole chicken. You’ll leave with the chicken that you break down.
We will first be offering these classes to those of our community members and neighbours who are currently experiencing some level of food insecurity. If you are interested in joining us, please give us a call at the shop (902)935-2076 or email [email protected] to discuss your participation.
If you know someone that would benefit from these sessions, please send this along to them.
We’re so excited to meet you and share these experiences with you all!! See you soon friends, we can’t wait to feed you, and to help you feed others!!
