This week saw a very successful 2026 SPRING SENIOR SAFETY EXPO held at the Best Western Hotel. The annual Expo sponsored by Queens General Hospital Foundation had 39 booths with exhibitors present to speak with Seniors on many subjects.

Shown is Shelly Walker, a board member at Queens Care Society and Senior Safety Co-Ordinator for Queens who organized the event. A big thank you Shelly for all the good things you do in our community.

Realizing that recruitment of Health Care Professionals to smaller Hospitals and rural Communities is a challenge, QGH Foundation has recently developed the following BURSARY PROGRAM to encourage and financially support Queens residents to pursue studies in the Health Care Professions and then return to practice at Queens General Hospital.

This weekend the “Swing into Spring" Dance was held at the Best Western Hotel in Liverpool. The dance featured the Swing Band from Mahone Bay consisting of 16 musicians. The dance was organized by Shelly Walker Queens Senior Safety Co-Ordinator ( shown ) on behalf of the Queens Care Society.

The Queens General Hospital Foundation was the principal sponsor. Money generated from ticket sales went to non profit organizations for seniors in Queens County.

At this time of year….as we reflect on what is important, the QGH Foundation Trustees are sending a Christmas Card to all Queens General Hospital employees (See attached ).

As times are challenging for many, included in the card is a $100 gift card to each employee working 40% or more. The gift cards are redeemable at Sobeys or Atlantic Superstores in Liverpool supporting local business.

On behalf of our Queens Community we want to thank each one for the care they provide to members of our Community every day.

It was a great day today when the magnet for the new MRI machine was lifted into place in the new building housing it at South Shore Regional Hospital. It is expected service will start spring 2026. This will greatly improve access to MRI services for patients from Queens County.

The QGH Foundation was a pivotal sponsor donating $750,000 towards the purchase. Donations to the QGH Foundation fund many Health Care related projects as well as recruitment and retention of Health Care Professionals to Queens General Hospital .
