● Today is the day! ●

The weather is going to be warm and sunny, a perfect day for a walk/run/bike

If you’re planning to or considering coming out, here are some answers to some questions you might be asking.

*There is a path cleared to enter the Kin Station parking lot in the construction on Binning Street. For ease, additional parking is found behind the Kin Station on Edward Ave. N.

1. All participants MUST come in and register, even if you signed up online, we need to know that you’re here and we have some goodies for you! Don’t forget, the silent auction takes place inside!

2. Yes pets are allowed! Dogs must be kept on leash, horses are permitted on the trail as well, but not in the building.

3. No motorized equipment, so no ATVs, dirt bikes, e-bikes, etc. Exceptions for motorized wheelchairs only.

4. Our route is “out and back”, please pay attention to the signs for when to turn around for each 2km, 5km or 10km route. Please stay on the trail. Volunteers will be stationed along the route to assist you if needed.

5. Yes we can accept debit and credit for silent auction, merchandise sales and self-pledged registrations.

6. The Silent Auction closes at 2:30 pm

Our agenda for the day is:

12:00-12:45 registration (inside Kin Station)
12:45 brief speeches and introductions (inside Kin Station)
12:55 warm up with Adrian (at starting point, outside behind kin station)
1pm, our Champion, Karlie will sound the horn to start the run.

It's sure to be a lot of fun, we are so grateful for the support of this community, here’s to another successful event 🎉

Meet Karlie! Our 2024 Run Champion

In June 2021 at age 9, Karlie was diagnosed with grade 3 Anaplastic Ependymoma, a rare form of cancer that affects the central nervous system meaning brain and brain stem (spine).
She immediately underwent surgery to remove as much of the tumour from her brain and brain stem, followed by 33 rounds of radiation at MacMaster Children’s Hospital in Hamilton. After radiation she went on oral chemotherapy which means taking a dose of chemo every morning which she has been on for 3 years.
She receives regular MRI’s to track any new changes or growth.
She’s been attending school and enjoying life while still in her fight.

We are honoured to have Karlie as our champion this year and so proud of how courageously she has faced this battle.

- September 1, 1980 - near Thunder Bay, ON

As Terry ran through intense pain, hundreds of supporters gathered along the highway cheering him on, saying, "Keep going, you can do it!" and "We're all behind you." Refusing to let anyone down, he took a break hoping the pain might subside. Terry ran another mile until he couldn't see any more people, returned to the van, and asked Doug to take him to a hospital. Terry called his parents in Port Coquitlam and told them the cancer had returned. The following day he flew home to begin further treatments. Terry had run his last mile of the Marathon of Hope.
