Step into spring and discover the quiet beauty unfolding across the forest floor. This guided walk invites you to slow down, look closely, and experience the first signs of the season, from delicate trout lilies to the early appearance of trilliums.
Join us for a one-hour interpretive walk through the trails as we explore native spring wildflowers and the stories behind them. Learn how these short-lived blooms signal the changing season, how they survive, and why some, like the trout lily, are named after familiar things in nature.
Your guide, Anne Barbour, brings a lifetime of curiosity and knowledge to the trail. A retired children’s librarian, amateur naturalist, and co-author of The Flora of Kawartha Lakes, Anne has spent years studying and sharing the region’s plant life. Her approachable style makes this walk engaging for anyone interested in nature, whether you are just beginning to explore or have a long-standing appreciation for the outdoors.
Cost: Free, donations welcome to the Kawartha Conservation Foundation
Registration is required as space is limited. Attendance is by donation, with proceeds supporting conservation and stewardship efforts across the watershed.
Come walk, learn, and experience spring as it returns to life.
