Celebrating Indigenous History Month by shining a spotlight on Indigenous brilliance and honouring Etuaptmumk (Two-Eyed Seeing) A way of understanding the world through the strengths of both Indigenous and Western ways of knowing. One eye centres on Indigenous knowledge, embracing holistic healing, community-based restorative justice, cultural reconnection, and the wisdom of Elders. The other eye draws on Western knowledge through trauma-informed therapeutic approaches, data collection, and systematic policy change. Together, they create a more balanced, compassionate, and effective path toward healing and justice.

The Chinook Sexual Assault Centre (CSAC) recognizes the heaviness many in our community are carrying following recent news. Sexual violence has real and lasting impacts - affecting those directly harmed, their loved ones, support systems, and others deeply affected by this news. Please know that you are not alone, and support is available.

We believe those who have come forward, those who have not yet shared their experiences, and every person impacted by sexual violence. Sexual violence is never the fault of the person who was harmed - responsibility always lies with the person who caused harm. What happened to you is not your fault.

The Chinook Sexual Assault Centre is committed to supporting individuals impacted by sexual violence. CSAC offers integrated case management, specialized police and court support, and trauma therapy. Our frontline staff provide trauma-informed, client-centred, and strength-based care; including grounding and coping tools, psychoeducation, and individualized support goals.

For those considering reporting to law enforcement, already navigating the criminal justice system, or simply wanting to understand the process, our specialized police and court support program is here to walk alongside you. There is no waitlist for frontline support services.

You are not what happened to you, and you do not have to navigate this alone. If you are seeking support for yourself, or are supporting someone impacted and need support yourself, please contact us at 403-694-1094 or [email protected].

We believe you. We see you. You are not alone. Support is available whenever you are ready.
