Yesterday, we were honoured to attend the National Indigenous Peoples Month Opening Ceremonies on the Kainai Nation.
This yearβs theme, Embracing Cultural Safety, was reflected so meaningfully throughout the morning in the words, teachings, and leadership shared by all who spoke. We are grateful to the leaders and speakers who offered greetings, reflections, and insight, including representatives from the Blood Tribe Department of Health, Primary Care Alberta, Acute Care Alberta, Alberta Health Services, Recovery Alberta, Assisted Living Alberta, ALTA Paramedic Health, and Bringing Hearts Home, including Dr. Sayeh Zielke.
Their messages were a powerful reminder that culturally safe care is built through respect, humility, relationship, innovation, and a shared commitment to listening and learning. We feel truly blessed to work alongside partners who are providing innovative health care programs that honour culture, strengthen community, and support better health outcomes for Indigenous peoples and families across our region.
Thank you to the Blood Tribe Department of Health for your hospitality, leadership, and ongoing partnership, and to everyone involved in creating such a meaningful day of learning, celebration, and connection.
Walking forward together, we are stronger. Dr Sayeh Zielke Alberta Health Services
