Artemis II is halfway to the Moon today! On their way out from Earth, they captured this image of the night side (yes, the south pole is on top) Can you spot the southern lights?

That's us! 🌍

The Artemis II crew captured beautiful, high-resolution images of our home planet during their journey to the Moon. As astronaut Christina Koch put it: "You guys look great."

March 28th Public Observing Update:

First, remember we're starting at 8:30 pm tonight instead of our regular time. Please try not to arrive before 8:20, as we'll still be setting up before then.

We're expecting some light smoke or haze in the sky tonight, but there shouldn't be much in the way of cloud cover. Jupiter and the Moon will likely steal the show, though Venus will also be setting in the west. Be sure to dress for a windchill of minus 6 degrees.

See you at 8:30!

We got asked to talk about the northern lights that happened last night, here is a little clip from Bridge City News today about the northern lights with some of our photos and one of our members being interviewed.

Hello public observing ticket holders! Tonight is a go, though there are a few things to keep in mind:

It will be minus 20 or colder tonight, so dress accordingly - especially your kids!

We've tested the hill down to the observatory and it should work for all vehicles, but be aware of your own vehicle and tire quality before heading down.

Because of the temperature, time outside will be limited and most of the evening will be spent indoors.

Keeping all this in mind, we're looking forward to seeing you all at 7:30 tonight!
