Construction Tip of the Week!

Clear communication at the beginning of a project can help prevent delays, misunderstandings and costly rework.

Before work begins, bring the right people together to confirm responsibilities, timelines, site requirements and how outstanding questions or decisions will be addressed.

Industry research has linked early team involvement, clearly defined responsibilities and reliable communication with stronger project performance.

Strong projects start with strong communication.

As construction season starts to shift, what’s next for your team?

The end of September is a good time to look ahead — upcoming projects, training needs, workforce planning, and the skills your team may need heading into the winter and a new year.

Across Alberta, the construction industry continues to focus on workforce development, new technology, safety and building the skills needed for what’s next.

At the LCA, we want to help our members stay informed, connected and prepared.

What is one area your company is focusing on this fall?

Training?
Workforce development?
Upcoming projects?
New technology?
Safety?

We’d love to hear from you. https://canva.link/6gi1cbva04l64wo

In recognition of the National Day for Truth and Reconciliation, the Lethbridge Construction Association office will be closed on Wednesday, September 30.

Today, we honour the children who never returned home, Survivors of residential schools, their families and communities.

We encourage everyone to take time to listen, learn and reflect on the history and ongoing impacts of residential schools, and on the role we can all play in reconciliation.

Our office will reopen Thursday, October 1.

NEW COMPANY. NEW SITE. NEW RISKS.

CONSTRUCTION TIP OF THE WEEK

A worker can have years of experience and still be new to your company, crew, procedures and jobsite.

Take time to review site-specific hazards, expectations, emergency procedures and who they should approach with questions.

A strong welcome can also be an important part of a strong safety culture.

ACSA reports that more than half of injuries in Alberta construction involve workers in their first year with a company, regardless of age or previous experience. Source: ACSA First-Year Worker Safety (https://ow.ly/clXJ50ZQJeh)
