Resilient Rec YQL

Resilient Rec YQL Meaningful leisure is a catalyst for purpose. Purpose is a catalyst for positive change. All funds raised will go toward the individual needs of the artist.

The purpose of this page is to display artwork created by guests, and to sell it to members of the page. For example, if the artist needs a new backpack, we will allocate funds from their art sale toward helping them make that purchase. All art sales will be done through bidding. Members of the group are welcome to bid on any item posted. Items will be posted for 24 hours, and then the highest bidder will be messaged.

To my Resilient Rec. YQL friends and family-

It is with a heavy heart, and a hope for tomorrow that I have decided to retire this program. This is not a decision I have come to lightly, but one that I have arrived at with peace in my heart and an immense gratitude for all the ways this community has come alongside this program in brining purposeful leisure as a catalyst for positive change. Resilient Rec ( previously Resilient Art) has run for just shy of five years thanks to all of you.

To my many volunteers past and present: You have truly been the hands and feet of this program. I hope you never forget the conversations, stories, and small interactions. I hope you know that you changed lives.

To any sponsor of monetary donations, supplies and materials, snacks, and more:
This program wouldn’t have even began, never mind run for half a decade without your generous support. A million thank you’s.

To my social media world that has cheered us on with likes, shares, comments, and more:
Thank you for supporting all we do. It means the world when a program is shared and the community backs it. Thank you.

It’s hard to believe I am closing this door, but it is with the deepest gratitude, and a brilliant hope for all that lies ahead.

Thank you, thank you, thank you.
Tannis Chartier
Resilient Rec. YQL Director

LAST CHANCE!

Our friend Steve gave me 7 books of incredible artwork close to a year ago. Pretty much every character you can imagine. I have posted the books a few times, and this will be the final post before I give Steve his books back! If you would like a certain character, message me and I’ll look through! If you would like to look through, I can meet you! All purchases are by donation and will go 100 percent to supporting Steve. Willing to ship at buyers expense!

🎤✨ What an unforgettable night at our Karaoke Night held at the Soup Kitchen! We had an amazing turnout, with so many guests joining in the fun and sharing their voices. It was a beautiful reminder of the joy and connection that music brings to our community.

Recreation is essential for everyone, including our homeless population. It provides a sense of belonging, boosts mental health, and fosters social connections. We believe that everyone deserves the chance to unwind, express themselves, and enjoy life, no matter their circumstances.

Thank you to everyone who joined us for a night of laughter, singing, and community spirit! Let’s continue to create spaces where everyone can thrive! 💖🎶

March 6th is Black Balloon Day, a day intended to honour and remember those lives lost to overdose or substance use disorders. There are participants from so many of our programs that we miss deeply. We have a long way to go in the care we have to offer as a system , but we hope that our programs offer a little bit of light. 🖤

🎬 Movie Night Success! 🍿

Last night’s Resilient Rec Movie Night was a blast! We had 20-30 guests join us to watch Hustle with Adam Sandler—a film about perseverance, second chances, and chasing your dreams.

A huge thank you to Christa Nelson, who generously donated the funds to purchase Movie Mill popcorn—your kindness made the night even better!

Did you know? Recreation isn’t just fun—it’s essential for well-being! Studies show that engaging in recreational activities can boost mental health, reduce stress, and give people a sense of purpose and belonging. More than just a movie night, events like these help us build relationships with our guests, creating a space where everyone feels valued and connected.

An Evening of Music and Hope 🎶

Last night, we had the privilege of taking three individuals experiencing homelessness to enjoy Handel’s Messiah, beautifully performed by the Lethbridge Symphony and Vox Musica. They were joined by Ellis, the manager of the Lethbridge Soup Kitchen, for a night filled with stunning music, warmth, and connection—an opportunity to share in the beauty of art and community.

At Resilient Rec, our mission is to provide meaningful opportunities for recreation, culture, and connection to individuals experiencing homelessness. We believe everyone deserves access to experiences that uplift the spirit and foster belonging.

Thank you to our wonderful partners and the performers for creating this unforgettable evening! Together, we’re building resilience, one experience at a time.

Alex, Richard and JK loved the entire night!

Thank you to for sponsoring a ticket!!!

About Us.

Resilient Art YQL is an initiative put on by the Lethbridge Soup Kitchen aiming to provide meaningful activity and an opportunity for creative expression to the Lethbridge homeless population. Art programming will be run once a week at the Lethbridge Soup Kitchen.

The purpose of this page is to display artwork created by guests, and to sell it to members of the page. All funds raised will go toward the individual needs of the artist. For example, if the artist needs a new backpack, we will allocate funds from their art sale toward helping them make that purchase.

All art sales will be done through bidding. Members of the group are welcome to bid on any item posted. Items will be posted for 24 hours, and then the highest bidder will be messaged.

Art sales will begin the first week of August but stay tuned on this page for opportunities to help and more information!
