From October 26-27th, the Leduc HUB Association, alongside community partners, will conduct Leducโs 2026 Point-in-Time (PiT) Count. During this time, you may notice an increased presence of outreach teams throughout the community as we work to connect with individuals experiencing homelessness or housing instability.
This year marks an important shift for our region. The federal government has expanded its nationally coordinated Point-in-Time Count approach to include a select group of rural and smaller municipalities. For communities like ours, it means our local housing challenges can be better represented, contributing to a clearer picture of homelessness beyond Canadaโs major urban centres.
Throughout the Count, our team will connect with people experiencing homelessness and housing instability in Leduc and invite them to participate in a short, voluntary survey about their housing experiences and needs.
The PiT Count provides a 24-hour snapshot of homelessness in our community. The information gathered helps us better understand who is experiencing homelessness, the needs people are facing, and where housing, services and supports are most needed.
If you know a family member, friend, or someone in the community who is unhoused or precariously housed, especially someone who is not currently connected to services, please encourage them to reach out to be counted by messaging the Leduc HUB Association or contacting [email protected].
Reaching people who may otherwise be missed helps us build a more accurate picture of homelessness and housing instability in Leduc. The information collected can help inform future planning, funding, and the services/supports available in our community.
If you are experiencing homelessness or housing instability, your experience matters. Your voice matters. You count.
