REMINDER: THREE more sleeps until we choose a lucky winner for the Lanark & District Museum's contest focused on LOCAL STORIES and PHOTOGRAPHS. Deadline for submission is 19TH JUNE, when one lucky name will be drawn for a voucher for a local business. We look forward to hearing from you.

Dear Gentle Folk of Lanark Highlands,

Do you have family stories, memories, photos, experiences, construction/building, schooling or such that you could share with us? If so, the Lanark & District Museum would love to hear from you. We are looking for day to day stories about your families, helpful neighbours, businesses and friends to be included in the Lanark & District Museum’s Archives. Did you or someone in your family fish, party, dance, log, farm, drive a tractor, swim, hunt, run the local hardware store, have great fun? Did anyone participate in a barn raising or enter a baking contest? How about making Moonshine??? The Lanark & District Museum would love to hear your recollections. Bonus Points for photos accompanying your story(ies).

19TH JUNE WE WILL DRAW ONE NAME from those who submitted stories. The lucky winner will get a voucher from a Lanark Village business.

It is understood that the Lanark & District Museum may use these stories to enhance local learning, storytelling and for historical promotions of the Lanark Highlands.

Remembering the devastating fire of 15th June, 1959 which forever changed the landscape of Lanark Village. Lanark Fire Chief Steve Rothwell addresses the group and answers questions. A big thank you to Mike Diak, who put together all of the film of the fire. It was a monumental task well handled. Thank you too to all of the first responders who show up when we need them and make sure we are safe. We are grateful for you all.

There is a very good chance if you live in the country, that you have at least one of these in the back corner cupboard, in the dark. Upon inspection, this one is particularly beautiful with its crown, declaration of 'Made in Canada' and Imperial measurement. Upon closer inspection, one can see the imperfections in the glass. It's a real treasure. Even though we don't have its lid it doesn't mean it isn't special.
