We are all Treaty people! Treaty holds deep value, meaning, and affects all of us living on this land for as long as the sun shines, the grass grows, and the river flows.

We have had the honour of attending the Treaty 6 150, and today the event concludes. Reflecting on and learning about 150 years of the spirit and intent of Treaty No. 6 at this event has offered us immense knowledge and meaning.

✨BIG NEW GOAL ALERT!!!✨

Join us in building shelter, together.

This fall, we’re excited to partner with three local high schools to build 30 dog houses for dogs and families in our partner First Nations. In reality, we're building more than houses. We’re building warmth, safety, and a little more comfort for pets this winter.

To make this happen, we need the materials. And to make that happen, we are asking you to support this project by considering a donation today.

🎯 Our goal is $10,500 by October 1 so students can begin building this term and the houses can be delivered to homes before the harshest part of our winter season arrives.

Your donation will help us purchase the lumber, insulation, roofing, and other materials needed to turn this campaign into 30 safe, weather-ready homes.

After an incredible DECADE of serving on our Board, our beloved Treasurer, Melissa, will be stepping away from her role this October.

Which means… we’re looking for our next Treasurer!
Could this be you, or someone you know?!

We’re looking for someone who wants to be part of our amazing leadership team and help guide CAP toward a sustainable, thoughtful, and forward-thinking future.

As our Treasurer, you’ll play an important role in supporting the financial wellbeing and long-term sustainability of our organization to ensure we can continue our work alongside our partner Nations and animals for years to come.

And you won’t be stepping into this role alone! 🧡 Melissa will be around to mentor, support, and share her decade of knowledge as you transition into the role, along with support from our Co-Executive Directors and fellow Board of Directors.

We are grateful for the long and successful partnership CAP holds with Chief Longjohn and Sturgeon Lake First Nation. We stand with their message on the critical importance of providing accessible animal health care to ensure animal, human and community safety for their Nation.

Geographic distance does not equate to accessible services.

We will continue to work alongside Sturgeon Lake First Nation and all of our other partner Nations to provide proactive, preventive and accessible animal care programs - even if that looks different than what we originally had hoped or planned 🧡

We are disheartened to share our anticipated upcoming on-site spay and neuter clinic in Sturgeon Lake First Nation has been cancelled.

As an organization, we have significant concerns for the future of access to equitable veterinary care in our province and the negative impact for both the animal welfare and veterinary industries. This decision will result in hundreds of animals being denied quality, necessary and proactive veterinary care.
