We had originally planned to gather for a community dinner back in December. Then exam season and family commitments took over, so we postponed. Now we have something even bigger to celebrate.

After years of steady work behind the scenes, One TWU has officially been granted registered charity status with the Canada Revenue Agency. We’ll be sharing more about what this means in the coming weeks, but for now, we simply want to gather with our community.

Whether you’re a student, alumni, staff or faculty, or a member of our wider One TWU family, you’re invited to join us for a potluck dinner! Let’s reconnect, share a meal, and celebrate this incredible milestone together.

Bring a dish if you’re able, or just bring yourself. There will be space at the table either way and we’d love to see you there.

Our hearts are with the community of Tumbler Ridge following yesterday’s tragic school shooting.

We are holding in our hearts and prayers the families and friends who are grieving, those who were injured, and the students and staff whose sense of safety has been shaken. In a small community, loss is deeply felt.

We are grateful for the bravery of first responders.

This is a time for compassion. As people across BC and Canada process this tragedy, may we move toward one another in care and solidarity rather than allow grief to be used to deepen harm.

We stand with Tumbler Ridge and pray for healing in the days ahead.

As the calendar year comes to a close and the Christmas season arrives, we’re holding both gratitude and honesty.

For many students connected to One TWU, the holidays aren’t restful. Heading home can mean hiding parts of who they are or navigating painful dynamics, all while the academic year is only halfway through.

This year, our community raised $11,000 through our GoFundMe, and we’re so thankful. We’re still hoping to raise $4,000 more, and monthly donors continue to make a steady, meaningful difference in our work.

If giving is on your heart, whether one-time, monthly, or toward a specific project, we’re grateful. And if it’s not possible right now, we’re still deeply thankful for the ways you show care, solidarity, and support simply by being part of this community.

Do you want to join the One TWU team?

We’re looking for up to four Student Ambassadors to join our team this year! This volunteer position is designed for TWU students in their second or third years who are interested in supporting 2SLGBTQIA+ students, getting involved on campus, and exploring future leadership opportunities with One TWU.

As a Student Ambassador, you’ll receive mentorship from our Student Leaders, help with weekly support meetings and events, and play a part in our outreach and promotion. It’s a great way to learn, connect, and contribute while developing your own leadership skills.

At the end of March, we officially launched our first GoFundMe campaign to raise $15,000 and we’re asking our community to help us keep going.

We’ve been supporting LGBTQIA2S+ students and allies at Trinity Western University for 10 years now. This year has been our busiest and most impactful yet — but also one of the most uncertain.

We’re in the process of becoming a registered charity, but that’s still about 12 months away. Our work doesn’t stop in the meantime and we need your support to carry us through!
