New Car Dealers Association of BC The Association speaks on behalf of British Columbia’s new car industry to the public, media, and government.

The New Car Dealers Association of BC represents 400 New Car Dealers throughout the province, who generate nearly $16 Billion in economic activity, pump $2.9 Billion net GDP directly into BC’s economy, and employ directly and indirectly more than 30,000 family supporting positions across the province. Spending by Association members generates $675 million in annual revenues to the federal, provincial and municipal governments. Better still are the spinoff benefits generated by members, such as the creation of business partnerships;
training opportunities for new workers; the creation of visitor and tourism events (such as the annual Vancouver International Auto Show, now in its 100th year); community support; and sponsorship of Special Olympics BC, which over the past 30 years has raised over $5 million for the organization. The Association speaks on behalf of British Columbia’s new car industry to the public, media, and government, and deals with the legal, environmental, and consumer issues relating primarily to new vehicle sales in British Columbia. The NCDA provides services, products, consultants and benefit partnerships to its dealer members.

BC’s new car dealers support reducing emissions, but the path forward must reflect consumer demand, vehicle availability and charging infrastructure readiness.

The NCDA is calling for a more flexible, emissions-based approach that supports affordability and consumer choice while continuing to advance environmental goals.

Together, $2.2 million has been raised for Ronald McDonald House BC & Yukon and KGH Foundation, with more commitments still coming in!

The provincial election day is this weekend and one issue that needs more attention is the proposed expansion of the PST to business services.

The NCDA is calling on the province to permanently abandon the proposal, which would increase costs on core services and would essentially be a tax on safety since security services would be included in the expansion.

At a time when affordability remains a top concern, businesses should not face additional taxes on the services they rely on each day.

With more than 220,000 EVs already on BC roads, reliable charging infrastructure is more important than ever. 

Drivers need access to reliable fast charging across the province, from major urban centres to rural and remote communities.

The NCDA is calling for continued investment in public fast-charging infrastructure to support drivers and help keep BC’s EV transition moving forward.

A strong automotive workforce doesn’t happen by accident. As we get ready to cast our votes in less than two weeks, investing in the next generation of automotive technicians should be part of the conversation. 

With vehicles becoming more advanced and EV adoption increasing, the NCDA is calling for expanded trades training and more EV-specific education opportunities to meet the needs of our future fleet.

As British Columbians prepare to head to the polls, one policy that deserves a closer look is the province’s New Vehicle Luxury Tax.

Applied to new vehicle purchases over $55,000, the tax now captures many vehicles that British Columbians rely on every day, including the minivans and SUVs families use to get to work, school and activities.

The NCDA continues to call on the province to remove or modernize the tax at a time when affordability remains a top concern for voters.
