Many families in Pakistan are trapped in debt-bondage slavery, working tirelessly in brick kiln factories. Because of this, they are unable to send their children to school, causing the cycle to repeat for generations.

Your gift of $87 can help break the cycle of debt and poverty by providing a child with an education.

In Pakistan, many families are stuck in a cycle of debt-bondage slavery in brick factories for generations. Normally, the children of these families have no opportunities to receive an education, but with our help, these children get the chance to receive an education—and with it, the opportunity to break the cycle of poverty and debt.

A prayer for the back-to-school season around the world:

Lord, thank you for providing opportunities for children in countries like Indonesia, Cambodia, and the Middle East to attend school and receive an education. We pray that as these children learn, they will also come to know and love you!

For us, the start of school is normal, but for children in other parts of the world, it’s a miracle. In other countries like Indonesia, Cambodia, and the Middle East, children are suffering from poverty and cannot afford school supplies. Our goal is to provide help in these countries so that children from poor backgrounds get the chance to learn.

Flash floods have struck the Himalayan border region of Nepal and China, sweeping through mountain communities and leaving hundreds dead or missing. Rescue teams continue searching for survivors and those still unaccounted for as communities begin to understand the scale of the disaster.

ICR Canada has ministry partners in this region. Communication is currently slow and sporadic, and we are waiting to hear directly from our partners about their safety and the needs they are seeing on the ground.

In the midst of tragedy, we pray the Church will be able to bring practical help, comfort, and the hope of Christ to those who are suffering.
