Is Christ's message to the seven churches in Revelation actually a mirror held up to your home and parish right now?
In this challenging reflection from Scott A. Roy's lecture Unlocking the Book of Revelation, he brings one of Scripture's most sobering questions into the present moment: how deeply is the Christ event actually penetrating every part of our lives? The Catholic Intellectual Tradition doesn't let us settle for comfortable religion — it calls us to the kind of fiery faith that transforms everything it touches. CPC exists to form men and women who are anything but lukewarm. 🕊️

💬 Honestly — if Christ evaluated your parish or household today, what do you think He would say?

What if everything you thought about authority and tyranny was backwards?
Dr. Andrew Kaethler delivers a striking reversal of conventional wisdom: totalitarianism and authoritarianism are not the result of too much authority — they are the result of its collapse. When true authority disappears, raw power and violence fill the void. In this clip from his lecture The Place of Authority in the Church, Kaethler connects this paradox to our current cultural moment, where an anti-authoritarian spirit has not produced freedom, but an ever-expanding state. At Catholic Pacific College, we engage precisely these questions — because the Catholic Intellectual Tradition has the resources to see what our age refuses to.

💬 Do you think our culture has confused freedom with the absence of authority? What's the difference?

" Since the relationship with creation has been damaged, only the Creator Himself can be the Savior." (Joseph Cardinal Ratzinger)

Most people approach the Book of Revelation like it's a disaster movie waiting to happen. Scott A. Roy shows us something far more profound: it's a covenant story.

The Four Horsemen aren't agents of random destruction — they're drawn directly from the covenant curses of Leviticus 26, called out to bring a straying people back to God.

In Session 2 of Apocalypse Now? Unlocking the Book of Revelation, Roy walks us through the heavenly throne room, the Lamb who was slain, the panorama of salvation history, and the seven seals and trumpets — and reveals that the whole book is structured around the Jewish liturgical calendar.

This is the kind of teaching that changes how you read Scripture. Consider attending the next CPC Evening Class Series courses. If you become a GIVE50 supporter, giving $50/month, you can attend these classes for free. catholicpacific.ca/give50.

"Nietzsche was right that obedience looks like weakness. He was wrong about what weakness is."

Most of us were taught that obedience means giving up your freedom. But what if that's exactly backwards?

In this week's CPC lecture, Dr. Andrew Kaethler unpacks one of the most countercultural claims in Catholic thought: that true obedience isn't submission to arbitrary rules — it's participation in the very life of the Trinity. Drawing on C.S. Lewis, Nietzsche, and Joseph Ratzinger, he traces the difference between worldly power (domination, fear, control) and the power revealed in Christ crucified: a power rooted in truth and love that will outlast everything else.

This is the kind of formation that changes how you see everything — your family, your faith, and your freedom.
