We are excited to share that Giselle Henry will be offering Elder support to Indigenous individuals and families who have experienced crimes or violence and who are connected to our Trauma Support Services programs.

Purple Eagle Spirit, Dancing Buffalo Woman and Sweet Thunder Bird Woman, Giselle Henry, is a proud citizen of the Ochapowace First Nations located in Treaty 4 territory, Southern Saskatchewan. Giselle has proudly served Canadians in the spirit of public safety for 25 years and is retired from the Correctional Service Canada. Giselle has guided, mentored, and provided emotional, spiritual and cultural support in the best interest of Indigenous persons. Giselle’s approach is grounded in traditional cultural healing practices. Her practice and ceremony engagement focus on resilience and is rooted in a trauma-informed approach while honouring a person-centered journey that is anchored with a diverse cultural response.

Today is the National Day of Awareness for Missing and Murdered Indigenous Women, Girls, and Two-Spirit and Gender Diverse People.

On this day we reflect, remember, and stand in solidarity with Indigenous Peoples. As a settler organization, it is our responsibility to hold space for those impacted by violence, loss, and systemic injustices, as well as to use our voices to amplify these stories and to advocate for justice, especially when it feels uncomfortable.

Today may bring up a lot of emotions for community members. You matter and you are not alone. For support, please consider contacting:

- MMIWG Support Line (available 24/7, free of charge) 1-844-413-6649

- Hope for Wellness Helpline (available 24/7, online or phone, free of charge, available to all Indigenous People) 1-855-242-3310 or hopeforwellness.ca

We’re deeply grateful for being selected as a recipient of the TELUS community board grant (TELUS and TELUS Friendly Future Foundation) to support the Langley Child and Youth Advocacy Centre.

Investing in mental health and stabilization is essential to helping children and youth feel safe, supported, and on a path toward healing.

The TELUS community board grant will support the creation of a mental health assessment and stabilization process for the Langley CYAC’s participants.

Congratulations to Dr. Anita Wong for being this year’s recipient for the 2026 BC Family Physician of the Year reward! 🎊

Dr. Anita Wong has played a pivotal role in advancing specialized youth primary care in Langley. We have had the honour and pleasure of working alongside her through our Langley Youth Hub and Foundry Langley programs.

Her compassion and commitment are evident in all she does in the community. Not only does she continue to provide direct clinical care to youth and families, she is a dedicated educator mentoring the next generation of physicians as a clinical instructor with UBC and the upcoming SFU School of Medicine, supporting residents in developing community-focused practices. We are incredibly fortunate to have her on our team and are thrilled to congratulate her on this well-deserved award.
