Russell Manitoba Talks

With the extreme weather over the past week, water is crossing the road at Shellmouth. As a result, the roads into Shellmouth have been closed.

Because these Shellmouth cemeteries were such an important part of our tour, we have decided to postpone the tour until later this summer or fall. To those who have registered, we will reach out to you directly once a new date has been determined.

The good news is that the postponed tour will be even better than the original, as we've discovered a couple of additional sites that will make the experience even better than we had planned!

Thank you for your understanding.

This is one of our major fundraisers of the year, with the proceeds going directly toward mowing and repairing some of our heritage cemeteries that have no other funds coming in. While the tour is postponed, the need for mowing is not. We'd be grateful if you'd consider a tax-deductible donation to The Heritage Cemeteries Project (www.heritagecemeteries.ca)

As of Thursday night, our planned tour of Russell/Shellmouth area cemeteries is still planned. We will be checking things out tomorrow to make sure we can still access these cemeteries (especially at Shellmouth).

If anybody could provide any updates about the road into Shellmouth from both east and west, it would be appreciated.

AGM Announcement! Our annual AGM will take place at 7pm on Monday, January 26 at the Churchbridge Evergreen Club.

Our keynote this year will be a recorded webinar, "Recruiting Teachers with Cemetery Programming - Teaching Buried History”. It's a way to connect students to their community through connecting local cemeteries to local history.

There is no charge to attend, and refreshments will follow the keynote. The business meeting will follow that, but we'd love for you to stay and see what we're going to be up to in 2026!

Contact Bryan at [email protected] for more info, or comment below!
