Citizens for Marshland Conservation The CMC aims to raise awareness of the importance of all wetlands. Citizens for Marshland Conservation Inc.

The 2025 Board of Directors of C4MC are: Yvon Duchesne (Chair), Al Quinsey (Vice-Chair), Joyce Gravelle (Treasurer), Elaine Kennedy (Secretary), Rheal Duchesne, Jacqueline Milner, Mary Ann Perron, and Robin Poole. (CMC), formerly known as the Cooper Marsh Conservators was formed in 1997. In 2008 it became a registered charity assisting in the protection and promotion of the Cooper Marsh Conserv

ation Area. This volunteer group included members from the general public, business community, the Raisin Region Conservation Authority (RRCA), the St. Lawrence River Institute of Environmental Sciences, the Cornwall & Area Birding Club, and The Wildflower Group. The CMC aims to raise awareness of the importance of all wetlands, specifically those in Eastern Ontario. Since 2012, the group’s fundraising efforts have raised three quarters of a million dollars that helped offset a portion of the Cooper Marsh’s annual operating costs and has enabled a major restoration of the Marsh's boardwalks, wildlife breeding habitat, and the creation of new viewing platforms and blinds to enhance wildlife observation. With this funding and hands-on involvement by CMC members, the Visitors Centre’s windows and wildlife viewing facilities have been updated, new display cabinets have been built, and new wildlife displays have been created. CMC also established a partnership with local businesses that created new signage at the main entrance and provided a new source of funding for Cooper Marsh. CMC will continue to support RRCA with their new leadership role and at the same time work to help conserve other local marshlands and neighbouring property. The present purpose of the corporation is: "To protect marshland for the benefit of the public by advocating for the protection, maintenance, and conservation, of stressed or threatened marshland including its flora and fauna in the United Counties of Stormont, Dundas & Glengarry, Ontario. It is made up of dedicated unpaid volunteers, whose purpose is to protect marshland and its unique wildlife. Also; To work with other Canadian registered charities, local governments, local groups and owners of marshlands to educate the public and those who control marshlands, to foster a call to action to conserve such important yet rapidly disappearing habitat."
