The children are leading how these tiny “engineers” help us compost our food scraps and turn them into nutrient-rich soil.

🌿 Our Community Made a Difference! 🌿

Families, educators, and childcare providers from across BC — including our beautiful Bella Vita and Elowyn communities — came together this week to ensure childcare funding remains protected during the BCGEU strike.

Because of our collective advocacy and the incredible efforts of MLA Gavin Dew, Minister Beare confirmed that childcare payments are an essential service.

💚 Both Bella Vita and Elowyn are on EFT, meaning funding will continue without disruption. The Minister has found a way to ensure EFT payments can be approved and processed through management — even while BCGEU members are on strike.

This is what community looks like: families and educators standing shoulder to shoulder for children, care, and continuity. Together, we remind our leaders that early learning is essential.

Our Fall 2025 Conference is a powerful day of connection and exploration centered around the 100 Languages of Inquiry, celebrating the different ways children express themselves through art and exploration 🎨 🌻

We'll be sharing a snapshot of the many exciting inquiry projects that have been unfolding in our classrooms, along with in-depth exhibits and breakout sessions.

We're also excited to welcome our keynote speaker Paige Mathison, who will guide us through the work of finding more joy in our classrooms and educational practice.

💛 We Must Protect Child Care Stability 💛

The BCGEU strike has created deep uncertainty across B.C., and while we haven’t yet felt the direct impact, if this continues unresolved, it could disrupt November’s funding — including CCFRI, wage enhancement, and ACCB supports that keep early learning affordable and stable.

For providers, this isn’t just a funding delay — it’s survival. Many centres operate on extremely slim margins, and with the government now controlling nearly 80% of our total funding, even a short interruption leaves programs unable to cover operating costs. That means educators’ wages, rent, and essential materials for our children are all at risk.

We’re standing shoulder to shoulder with our families — but we need your voices, too. Please contact your local MLAs and government officials today to demand transparency and action to protect these vital supports.

Our educators, families, and children deserve stability, not uncertainty. Together, we can ensure that early learning remains strong, supported, and sustainable in B.C. 💛
