As we drove away from our visit with Bags of Love, we were in awe of the dedication, care, and thoughtfulness of this incredible group of women. ❤️

They make quilts, pillowcases, stuffies, fidgets, and so many other wonderful handmade items, then fill their bags with extra goodies to create meaningful gifts for children in foster care, newcomers, families we walk alongside at BTF, and others in need. They truly are Bags of Love!

God gives each of us talents and passions, and it’s amazing to see what can happen when we use those gifts to care for others.

Our visit left us feeling inspired and encouraged to keep going. This is what can happen when a community comes together to support one another. ❤️

Thank you, Bags of Love East-Central Alberta , for the beautiful work you do and for sharing your gifts with our community!

We love our community so much!!!

Thank you all so so much for coming out today, from the bottom of our hearts! we raised $263.10 to donate to the broomtree foundation, and had a blast getting to connect with everyone who came through 🤎🤎

We look forward to hopefully hosting this again in a larger location in a couple of months! 🤎🤎

The future home of The Broom Tree House 💙🏠

Thank you Sunny 94.3 FM for featuring us and our upcoming project! We are so thankful for everyone's support, and we can't wait to be able to help even more women and their families through the completion of our 12 Unit Housing Complex.

"Chelsea Felt, the Attainable Housing Program Coordinator with The Broom Tree Foundation, said housing is one of the main reasons women seek help from the organization.

The two new units will be in addition to the three transitional units the organization already operates.

"We're probably a little over 50 women and children right now," Felt said of those who have used the existing units.

She said more than 200 women and children have still needed housing beyond the organization's existing capacity.

The foundation is also working toward building a 12-unit housing complex on an empty lot on 5332 50th Avenue.

The Broom Tree House has received $937,000 through the Alberta government's Affordable Housing Partnership Program and $124,000 from the Affordable Housing Committee at the City of Lacombe.

This brings the total to over a million dollars, which is over a third of the way towards the fundraising goal of three million.

Felt said the foundation has also applied for federal funding and is waiting for a response over the next couple of weeks."
