Deer Valley Meadows Fiddle Camp is calling!

There’s nothing quite like a week at ASF Summer Camp. Days are filled with music, learning, laughter, and friendship, while evenings come alive with jam circles, campfires, and tunes that carry long into the night.

Whether you play fiddle, guitar, piano, mandolin, love to jam, enjoy crafting, or simply want to be part of a welcoming musical community, there’s a place for you at camp. Youth, adults, beginners, and experienced musicians are all welcome.

Need a little extra support? Bursaries are available, and nursery care is available for families with young children, helping make camp accessible for more participants.

With accommodations, camping options, delicious meals, outstanding instructors, and plenty of opportunities to make lifelong memories, Deer Valley Meadows is the perfect place to celebrate Alberta’s fiddle culture.

Fiddling has always been a huge part of our Alberta communities.

It is the sound of community halls, old time dances, jam circles, festivals, campfires, and generations gathering together through music. It connects young players with experienced mentors, preserves tradition, and creates memories that last a lifetime.

But while the music matters deeply, the Alberta Society of Fiddlers’ greatest asset has always been its PEOPLE behind it.

The volunteers who organize events. The instructors who share their knowledge. The accompanists who quietly support every tune. The families who drive countless miles to lessons, dances, and camps. The dancers who fill the floor. The audience members who clap along. The donors, sponsors, and supporters who believe this music is worth preserving.
And the fiddlers themselves who continue passing these traditions from one generation to the next.

A community like this is not built by one person or one performance. It is built by people showing up for each other year after year.

That is what makes our fiddle community so special.

What’s your favourite hall in Alberta to play music, dance, or both?

From small town community halls to legendary dance floors, Alberta has some incredible places where memories are made, tunes come alive, and friendships are built.

Tell us your favourite hall and why you love it. If you have one, share a photo from a good time there too.

We would love to see the places, people, and memories that make Alberta’s fiddle and dance community so special!

UPDATE

What an incredible evening of music, dancing, community, and generosity at our May 16 Dance Fundraiser.

Together, we raised:
• $1,326 toward ASF Summer Camp
• $910 toward Charlie’s Challenge

For a total of $2,236 raised.

We are also thrilled to share that Charlie’s Challenge successfully reached its $5,000 goal in support of the Canadian Grand Masters Fiddle Championship.

Thank you to every musician, volunteer, donor, dancer, auction supporter, and community member who helped make this event such a success. Nights like these are a powerful reminder of what the Alberta fiddle community can accomplish together.

Stay tuned for more photos and videos from this wonderful evening.
