🧡NATIONAL DAY FOR TRUTH AND RECONCILIATION🧡
Today, Sept 30, marks the 6th annual National Day For Truth And Reconciliation, a day to remember all those affected and lost to the residential school system. Today is a day to learn, reflect, listen and take part in actively understanding the importance and meaning behind this day. Today is hard for many people, as Residential school denalism is on the rise, and hate rears its ugly head, our role in understanding, in reconciliation is more important now then ever. As a society that works and plays on Treaty 6 and 7 land, we continue to amplify the call for our governments to implement the TRCs 94 calls to action as a form of reconciliation but also of real action. The 94 calls to action was released in 2015 and only 14 have been completed within the last 11 years!! We need our governments to put their words into movement and do better to support everyone affected by his Genocide against our Indigenous communites!
We encourage everyone to attend events, listen to first hand accounts and be present in understanding the role we play in fighting for reconciliation. In our Linktree we have a few resources we encourage you to check out, but also do your own research, grow your understanding and take today to learn something you may never have known before. We steward this land together and together is the only way true change happens!🫶
Our hearts go out to everyone who has lost a loved one, been emotionally, physically or spiritually harmed by residential schools, and who continue to suffer intergenerational trauma because of these horrific institutions, we stand with you, we hear you, and we will never stop fighting alongside you!🧡
