Community Learning-Lac La Biche

Community Learning-Lac La Biche A place to post literacy activities and events in Lac La Biche County. A place for tutors and learners to share how their literacy learning is going.

We have moved and will be closed till August 4th. The Program for Adult Learning is a group of adults working on improving reading, writing, basic math and English speaking skills in the Lac La Biche region. We believe that learning is a partnership and work with learners to address their expressed needs by using the talents and skills present in the partnership. Volunteer tutors and adult learner

s meet regularly for free individual sessions. Other learners join our free small group English conversation classes. Learning materials are loaned out and training is provided for the tutors. The program also promotes adult and family literacy through awareness activities, workshops, and community literacy projects. Our group is part of C.L.A.S.S. (Community Learning for Adult Students Society – Lac La Biche & District).

🌟 Discover the Volunteer for Literacy (VFL) Program! 🌟
Literacy isn’t just about reading books—it is woven into every single part of our lives! From digital skills and financial tracking to prepping for a test, literacy is about life skills.

At the Community Learning Hub, our Volunteer for Literacy program is the spark that connects people to share, learn, and grow together.

📚 How It Works
Your Goals, Your Pace: Learners follow their own path. Whether you are studying for a written driver’s license, an entrance exam, Canadian Citizenship, or an English proficiency test, we are here to help.

Perfect Pairings: Learners with specific goals are matched with dedicated volunteer tutors (often amazing retired seniors looking to stay active, share their lifetime of skills, and give back!).

Choose Your Task: Volunteers and learners can choose tasks that perfectly fit their unique abilities, comfort levels, and skill sets.

Community Connection: It’s not just about test-taking. For many, it’s a wonderful opportunity to meet people from diverse backgrounds, make long-term connections, and give back through volunteering.

🤝 Join Us Today!
Whether you want to learn a new skill, share your knowledge as a tutor, or simply connect with your community, there is a place for you here.

Foraging to Fork – Dandelions
What an amazing event last week. The timeline was short but we are happy that folks came out to learn and share with Mysoon Tarrabain and Nouhad Fayad. The salad was delicious but the opportunity to get out in the fresh air and visit with others was so great too. Thanks to Mysoon & Nouhad and everyone that come out. This is another example of making a delicious, nutritious meal on a small budget.
