Well that's a wrap, Open Mic sessions at The Listening Room in Lac du Bonnet have come to an end for another season!!

A fantastic group of friends gathered for dinner and lively chatter, followed by rounds of stories and songs until the wind blew us away!

This is a team of believers. We believe in the power of community - in the power of generosity, welcome and respect.

Thank you to everyone who supports these sessions. The folks who setup and put away, who take care of sound or welcome folks with coffee, who create memories with videos, and those who show up to appreciate conversation and live arts in small town Manitoba.

We could not do this without the generous support of all of our community sponsors - Fire & Water Music Festival, St. John's Heritage Church & Arts Centre, Lac du Bonnet District Museum and Grans Bake Shop. Thank you thank you thank you 💜

Open Mic Season Finale happens this Wednesday, June 10 at The Listening Room in Lac du Bonnet - we bet you've already got it marked in your calendar!

Don't cry cuz it's over, smile cuz you get to come hang together and play some tunes 😎

Here's what you need to know:
- Doors open @ 5pm
- Potluck Dinner @ 530pm
- Acoustic Circle @ 7pm
We'll meet in the back hall- use the doors to the right of the main venue doors

What should I bring?
- *IF* you're joining us for the potluck dinner, bring
- a dish to share (READY TO SERVE due to limited kitchen space)
- serving utensil.
- *IF* you want to participate as a performer, bring your instrument, songs or short pieces to read
- *IF* you just want to come hang out, maybe have a coffee & conversation along with your live performance, that's cool too!

Coffee / tea will be on. We'll provide cups/plates/eating utensils.

The Listening Room in Lac du Bonnet was thrilled to host Zachary Lucky in concert last night.

Zachary's music is honest and heartfelt, reflecting his prairie roots and life on the road as a minstrel of music. One of the most compelling things about this troubadour's performances are the stories behind his songs, drawing listeners in to share a laugh or get an honest glimpse inside a personal moment.

Joining Zachary on stage was fellow Saskatchewan musician Bryce Lewis. Bryce's nuanced guitar playing added powerful instrumental layers to Zachary's originals.

What a fantastic way to start a long weekend!

Thanks to Fire & Water Music Festival and St. John's Heritage Church & Arts Centre for their support. Community support and venues like The Listening Room allow performance opportunities for independent artists such as Zachary Lucky.

Next up for Fire & Water Music Festival is the annual festival weekend. The Festival will celebrate 20 years of music and memories this year from July 24-26. To check out the lineup and get your tickets, go to firenwater.ca.

You might want to get comfy - there are 3 things we've gotta talk about today

1. Open Mic session - Wed., May 13. Same time, same bat channel as always😎. Shoot a message if you need more deets!

2. Zachary Lucky concert - Friday, May 15 @ 7p. Tickets $25 - we'll have some at the door if you're a last minute guy / gal. Also available online (https://firenwater.ca/events), at Daley's Pharmacy, or by reaching out to Paul Mc or Bernadette . We'll have refreshments and a cash bar that night. We are lucky to host such a great artist, it's gonna be a good one!

3. Last but most definitely not least, happy Mother's Day to all who celebrate. There are many folks who have never raised another human but who are "mothers to others" by being good friends, colleagues and neighbours. True story! We appreciate and celebrate ALL of you🩷🙂!

The Listening Room Vibes workshop features local musicians who perform regularly at the Fire & Water Music Festival Open Mic sessions held in Lac du Bonnet's oldest building - a truly unique event and venue in Eastern Manitoba. Listeners will be treated to a sampling of the musical talent that we enjoy at these sessions - a mix of unique originals along with iconic cover tunes. All made right here in Manitoba!!

This year's feature performers are Lefty Augers, Roger Fournier, Jay Anthony Willis and Bernadette.
