The ANC had a wonderful time collaborating with the Gateway Labrador to host an International Tea Party for our Senior Club!

This special gathering brought our newcomers and seniors together to share something beautiful — a taste of home, a piece of culture, and a whole lot of warmth. Our newcomers had the opportunity to prepare and share tea from their home countries, introducing everyone to the flavours, traditions, and stories that make each culture unique.

For our newcomers, building a new life in a new place comes with its own challenges. And who better to understand that journey than our seniors, who have worked so hard to build and nurture the very community we are all part of today?

Events like these remind us that, despite our different backgrounds and life experiences, we all share the same need for connection, belonging, and understanding. Sometimes, all it takes is a cup of tea and an open heart to bring people closer together.

Finally, a heartfelt thank you to all our amazing volunteers, the Gateway Labrador team, our seniors, and everyone who helped make this event such a beautiful success! Your kindness and dedication continue to make our community a warmer, more welcoming place for everyone.

We had such a wonderful time being part of Wellness Week and sharing space with so many incredible organizations, all working together to make a difference in Labrador West! It was truly a meaningful opportunity to connect with our high school students, share more about the work ANC does, and help them learn about the many amazing organizations that work tirelessly to support and strengthen our community.

Events like these are so much so meaningful because they open doors to new conversations, build awareness, inspire curiosity, and help our young people understand the incredible network of support that exists right here in their own community.

A heartfelt thank you to Labrador West Status of Women for inviting us to be part of Wellness Week and for creating such a valuable space for connection, education, and community building. We are truly grateful to have been included alongside so many wonderful organizations that share the same goal of making Labrador West a better place for everyone.

We had the absolute pleasure of hosting our newcomers for a fun-filled Family Book & Craft Night!

Our little artists had an amazing time getting creative with some fabulous diamond art, sharing lots of smiles and laughs along the way. It was wonderful seeing everyone come together, make memories, and let their creativity shine.

We are so proud to have such talented, creative, and enthusiastic youngsters in our town!

And of course, no cozy family night would be complete without hot chocolate and donuts! Thank you to all the families who joined us and made the evening so special.

A big thank you to NL multicultural grant program for making this event possible.

A huge shoutout to Rotary club for their generous donations which helped us provide hot chocolate and donuts for the event.

We are pleased to invite our newcomer community to participate in a special upcoming event: an International Tea Festival, organized by Gateway Labrador in collaboration with Association for New Canadians (ANC)

This event will be a great opportunity to bring the Labrador West community together and celebrate the diversity of cultures, traditions and flavours that make our community so unique. As part of this event, we want to showcase a variety of teas from different countries and cultures, to allow community members to discover and taste new flavours.

🍵 Are you a tea lover?
We'd love to hear your ideas and suggestions!

If you have a favourite tea from your country or culture that you would like to see featured at the International Tea Festival, we would love to hear your suggestion. We are particularly interested in discovering teas that have cultural or personal significance and that you would like to share with others in our community.

If you are interested, please reach out to me at [email protected]
