A fire advisory is now in place for the High Level Forest Area due to strong winds and an anticipated increase in fire danger.

The fire advisory will remain in effect until conditions improve.

Starting March 1, fire permits will be required for all burning in the Forest Protection Area, excluding campfires. Fire permits can be requested online, in person, or over the phone. Check on your winter burning projects to ensure they are fully extinguished. Ongoing burn projects will require a fire permit as of March 1. https://www.alberta.ca/get-a-fire-permit

Controlled Burn with Mutual-Aid Fort Vermilion Fire and Rescue

We were given permission to use a, soon to be demolished, single story residence with a basement.

Saturday, Firefighters spent a few hours ensuring the structure safe for training.

Monday, Using a burn barrel firefighters filled the building with smoke and ran training drills.

Training objectives.
- Incident Command
- Interior Fire Attack
- Structural Search and Rescue
- Fire Behavior

Once completed we conducted a controlled burn of the structure protecting exposures for the home owner.

We would like extend a Thank-you to the home owner as this is valuable training for our members.
