✨ Better late than never! ✨
Our SEAS season wrapped up just over a month ago, and we’re finally sharing a little “end-of-season dump” from those last few weeks.
From fishing and swimming to filming projects, exploring Hakai, and soaking up every bit of time on the water and in the territory — our interns closed out the summer with learning, laughter, and memories that will last. 🌊🎣🎥
A huge Ǧiáxsix̌a ~ Ntoya̱xsn ~ thank you not only to our knowledge keepers, mentors, and community members, but also to the incredible youth who participated this year. You are the heart of this program and the reason it continues to grow and thrive. 💙
And I’ll close out by saying this simple yet impactful reminder as said in the wise words of the late Ernest Mason Jr | Papa Charlie “Take Care of the land, the land will take care of you”

🎬 Lights, camera… SEAS! 📹✨
Film Week is rolling and we’ve teamed up with Dean Duncan & Blair Doucette - fresh grads from Capilano University’s Indigenous Digital Filmmaking program - to create a SEAS promo video and a short doc!

From fjord lands and rub trees to historic Butedale, our interns are learning how to shoot, interview, and tell stories that keep our SEAS story going and growing. Big thanks to Dean & Blair for showing us how it’s done! 🙌

Immersed in the past. Enriched for the future.
Our SEAS interns often get to see and learn about pictographs placed there by their ancestors - connecting to culture, history, and the stories carried by the land.

SEAS Weekly Recap 🌿🛥️

This week, our SEAS crew explored Butedale, visited cultural sites, and stood in the very places our ancestors once lived. Through storytelling and time on the land, we deepened our connection to both culture and community.

We also visited North King Lodge, a fishing lodge in our area, and gained insight to possible career opportunities. Lastly a big thank you to Harvey and his crew for welcoming our interns aboard and sharing their knowledge, and letting our interns experience fishing and longlining.

Everywhere we go, we carry the stories of those who came before us. Ǧiáxsix̌a/Ntoya̱xsn!

🌊After nearly a full week on the water aboard the SV Achiever, the SEAS crew is back on land - minds full, hearts full, and spirits high!

A huge ǧiáxsix̌a to Drew, John, and Hilary for guiding us through such an unforgettable sailing adventure. We also want to thank KXSA Marine Planning for collaborating with our SEAS crew for a bio-blitz day - it was an amazing opportunity to learn, connect, and contribute to stewardship in action.

We’re grateful for the knowledge shared, the experiences gained, and the relationships strengthened. Here's to more learning on the land and sea! 🌿⚓️🧡

Outboard oil checks, rope tying, and boat rides - but more than that, moments of knowledge passed down, laughter shared, and confidence growing. These are the days that shape tomorrow’s stewards. 🌊🛥️🌲
