Tamitik Status of Women

Tamitik Status of Women The Tamitik Status of Women Association (TSW) began as a grass-roots organization of women who shared their experiences and supported one another.

Tamitik Status of Women (TSW) offers a diverse range of programs and services to address the needs of individuals and families in the Kitimat and Kitamaat Village community Now, we are an active agency that provides programs and services for individuals and families in our community. TSW promotes safety, equity, and wellness for all members of our community by providing inclusive, low barrier supp

orts. We are committed to uplifting those most affected by poverty, violence, and systemic barriers through programs rooted in compassion, collaboration, and justice. Our vision is a vibrant, inclusive community where everyone has access to the resources they need to thrive — free from violence, poverty, and discrimination. All our services are free, to be as low-barrier as possible, and to ensure successful engagement with the community’s most vulnerable and often most apprehensive populations. TSW was incorporated in December 1996, and is governed by a constitution and bylaws under the oversight of a dedicated Board of Directors, ensuring transparency and alignment with our organizational goals.

We're getting our garden growing and we'd love your help!

Join us on June 28 from 10 AM - 4 PM at 461 Quatsino Blvd as we spend the day planting, connecting, and building something great together. Whether you have a green thumb or have never planted a thing in your life, everyone is welcome.

If you have any extra seeds, seedlings, plant starts, or garden soil you'd like to donate, feel free to bring them along. Every little bit helps and is greatly appreciated.

A big thank you to Rio Tinto BC Works for helping make this project possible through their generous support.

We hope to see you there!

Somehow a week has already passed since our Pride in the Park event - but we're still talking about how much fun it was! Thank you to everyone who participated, seeing such a turnout and soaking in the joy and connection made this year's event one for the books.

A special shout out to all our sponsors, without them we wouldn't be able to do this, or any of our events. We are extremely grateful for our title sponsors, LNG Canada as well as the District of Kitimat.

Our bellies were filled thanks to Save-On-Foods, Civeo, the Bistro, and Shoppers Drug Mart. We also extend our gratitude to Spruce Tree Media Ltd. for capturing our event, and to Transdev for their part in getting people to and from. Thank you to Sarah and Tony from Bizzy Bee for the music and keeping the good vibes going all afternoon. And to Rio Tinto BC Works for the awesome shirts!

And finally, we thank Your Dollarstore with More, Kitimat Chamber of Commerce, Snow Valley Ford, JV Cannabis, Envision Financial, Aquaclear, Kitimat RMCP, Tina Readman, Henna by Urja and Mr. Mikes for their part in making this event what it was - an afternoon for everyone and anyone to have fun together!

If you attended our event and have any ideas or input for next year, let us know! We'd love to hear the feedback from our participants.
