That must be a really good nap! Bears hibernate for 6-7 months of the year and spend the spring and summer fattening up for their big sleep! That is why it's important to keep your trash inside and away from a bear's path as they will eat anything they can! 🐻🌲💤

It's important to remember to clean up after yourselves so bears don't have any reason to stop and snack! You wouldn't want to see a bear as your competitor on the track! Bears, especially Grizzly bears, are exceptional runners which is why it's very important to remember to stay calm if you encounter one. Running away can cause bears to think of you as a threat and they may chase after you. 🐻🌲

Bears are very smart creatures! They can actually be considered one of the smartest animals, much like some primates.🐻🎓🤯
They can figure out (and remember) where to find food very easily. When they learn where they can find a feast, they'll return to that spot next year in hopes to find more! This is why we should stay proactive and control our attractants, otherwise, these clever guys may be repeat visitors to your yard! 🍽

Thank you so much for coming out to visit us yesterday for our Tourist in Your own Town BBQ! 🐻🌭☀️
We had lots of fun hanging out in the beautiful sunshine, playing games, and sharing some safety tips! We couldn't have done it without the Kitimat Humane Society and the Kitimat Chamber of Commerce!
