Happy Friday, everyone!!

We have one final Bear Fact of the Day, and what better way to end our program with talking about our- well bears’ roots! This bear below has been called the “Arctodus,” or the “Short-Faced Bear,” and it is suspected that they lived solely in North America, around the west coast, which includes Kitimat! How amazing that these massive, ancient bears have walked where we hike, play, and bike today! 🥾

We hope you’ve enjoyed our Bear Facts of the Day, and hopefully you’ve learned something new about bears! 🐻✨

Good morning everyone, the weekend is almost here!🌤️

We have today’s Bear Fact of the Day ready for your eyes! It’s a pretty simple one, little bit of housekeeping to what we call bears! We don’t see any Sids or mammoths running around, but a group of bears are called a “sloth!” 🦥

How’s that for a fact you didn’t know? Or for our sake, pretend that you didn’t. 😉

Have a wonderful Thursday! 🐻✨

Good morning and happy Wednesday, Kitimat! ⭐️

We have today’s Bear Fact of the Day hot off the grill for you! As you may or may not know, bears are adventurous creatures, and also very solitary. After living with mom for up to three years, they leave the nest pretty early (sorry Mom and Dad…) to roam on their lonesome!

Bears have also been observed to enjoy sitting and admiring views, as you can see in the picture below! We’re not sure if they practice Marcus Aurelius’s stoicism, but perhaps they enjoy pondering the sunsets before them… Or maybe they’re thinking about all the fish hiding in the water! 🐟

Whatever it is, we’ll give them ample space to ponder and philosophize. 🐻✨

Good morning Kitimat! 🌄

We have another Bear Fact of the Day for you! Due to climate change, as you can see, polar bears are migrating south in search of food and shelter, which often leads to them becoming inhabitants of grizzly bear territory. Naturally, they intermingle, and we’ve been starting to see a new kind of bear, the “Grolar/Pizzly” Bear. 🐻🐻‍❄️

Although they look adorable, and it’s cool to see a new bear hybrid, it is also a more grim reminder of our reality with global warming. With the Arctic/Antarctic regions melting, polar bears are forced to migrate elsewhere to find somewhere where they can survive. We are also at risk of losing our polar bears populations due to climate crises. Naturally, there is only so much civilians can do, but we encourage you all to practice sustainability, with our shared future in mind. It’s not only us who will be affected, but our bear friends too. ❤️

Good morning folks and happy Monday! We’re back with another Bear Fact of the Day!

As we can see, the reason you may catch bears rubbing against rocks or trees is to mark their territory, and at times, scratch an itch they can’t reach. Unfortunately, they aren’t dancing, but we still think our bear friends are pretty groovy! 🕺🪩

Have a great morning, everyone! 🐻☀️

🚫 Don’t stop.
🚫 Don’t feed.
🚫 Don’t teach bad habits.

Bears near roads are not a photo op. They’re a sign to stay alert. Pulling over or tossing food teaches wildlife to approach vehicles, putting them and people at risk.

Let’s keep bears wild and safe.
