Create & Connect is more than an art program, it's a space to build community.

In this testimonial, a participant shares how much she enjoys connecting with people from different backgrounds, learning from one another's experiences, and forming meaningful friendships along the way.

Through creative expression and shared experiences, participants have the opportunity to develop new artistic skills, explore their creativity, and become part of a welcoming and supportive community. 🌿✨

We're so grateful to see these connections grow each week and to hear how the program is making a positive impact on participants' lives.

A special thank you to the Kitchener Conestoga Rotary Club and The Resilience Project for supporting Create & Connect and helping make these meaningful experiences possible.

This week, our Thrive Through Nutrition participants came together to prepare and enjoy a delicious Thanksgiving-inspired meal featuring roasted chicken, vegetables, and rice.

Beyond learning new cooking skills, the program provides a welcoming space for participants to connect, share stories, build confidence in the kitchen, and enjoy the rewards of a meal prepared together. Food has a unique way of bringing people together, and this week's session was a wonderful reminder of the importance of community, gratitude, and connection.

We are grateful for the opportunity to gather around the table, learn from one another, and celebrate the season with good food and great company. πŸ’›

Another great week of learning at our Tutoring Program!

Our students continue to show incredible dedication as they build their skills, tackle new challenges, and gain confidence in the classroom. With the support of our amazing volunteers, participants are receiving personalized guidance that is helping them strengthen their understanding of school subjects and stay motivated in their learning journey.

We're especially excited to hear from students who have shared that they're noticing improvements in their schoolwork, confidence, and overall academic success. 🌟

We would also like to extend our sincere thanks to Camino Wellbeing + Mental Health for their support in making this program possible and helping students access the resources they need to succeed.

What does it mean to truly love and value yourself?

Join us this Thursday as we explore self-love, self-compassion, and the impact of our inner dialogue. Through guided discussions and practical activities, participants will reflect on their inner critics, learn what self-love looks like in action, and practice tools that support confidence, resilience, and personal growth.

Something meaningful happens when generations and communities come together. πŸ’š

Children and adults, Muslim community and Indigenous community members gathered side by side, sharing stories, learning from one another, and building relationships grounded in respect, understanding, and a shared purpose.

These moments remind us that community is strongest when we come together across cultures, experiences, and generations. By creating spaces where young people can learn alongside adults and where diverse communities can connect with one another, we help nurture a future rooted in belonging, collaboration, and mutual respect. 🌱

Muslim Social Services Waterloo Region was honoured to partner with Wisahkotewinowak in fostering these meaningful connections and creating opportunities for communities to learn, grow, and walk alongside one another during their October 4th Garden Pollinator Event.

Together, we are building bridges, strengthening relationships, and planting seeds for future generations. ✨

Every connection, conversation, and community gathering helps build a stronger, more connected Waterloo Region. πŸ’š

In 2025, MSSWR created over 1,520 community touchpoints through events, distributions, youth activities, and shared gathering spaces. From our Women's Day Iftar and Community Job Fair to youth sports tournaments, food hamper distributions, and seasonal support initiatives, each event brought people together and strengthened community connections.

These milestones reflect the generosity, dedication, and collective spirit of our community, partners, volunteers, and supporters. Together, we continue to create spaces where people feel welcomed, supported, and empowered to thrive.

Thank you to everyone who has been part of this journey. We look forward to creating even more opportunities for connection, service, and belonging in the year ahead. ✨

What a fantastic day at the BCI Tournament of Hope! πŸ€βœ¨

Our team was honoured to join six other community organizations to connect with local youth, share information about our programs and services, and celebrate the power of community engagement.

Events like these provide valuable opportunities to build relationships, raise awareness about available supports, and connect young people with resources that help them learn, grow, and thrive. Thank you to BCI for creating such a welcoming and impactful space for the community to come together.

We loved meeting everyone who stopped by our booth and look forward to continuing these conversations throughout the year! πŸ’™

There's something special about seeing girls build confidence while trying something new. πŸ’™

In this testimonial, a parent shares how much their daughters enjoy the Girls in Sport program, from learning new skills and techniques with the support of dedicated coaches to being part of a welcoming women-only environment where girls can feel comfortable, included, and empowered.

Building strong communities starts with showing up, listening, and creating meaningful connections. Throughout 2025, MSSWR actively participated in 29 outreach events, connecting with community members, strengthening partnerships, sharing resources, and ensuring our programs and services reach those who need them most.

From community fairs and wellness expos to collaborative tables, workshops, and regional initiatives, each event provided an opportunity to learn, advocate, and work alongside others to create a more inclusive and supportive Waterloo Region. πŸ’š

These outreach efforts help us expand our impact, build lasting relationships, and ensure community voices remain at the heart of our work.

Thank you to our staff, volunteers, partners, and community members who helped make these connections possible. Together, we're building a stronger, more connected community.

✨ Stay tuned for more impact snapshots as we continue showcasing the stories, partnerships, and outcomes that made 2025 a year of community impact.
