Alicia has received Adult Service Coordination services since 2026. She is a friendly, sociable, and creative young woman who values meaningful connections, including a strong bond with her Service Coordinator.

Music is central to her life—she enjoys singing and karaoke. She also loves baking, crafts, outdoor activities with her dog, camping, beaches, and orchards. Alicia expresses herself through hair colour, Disney, and meaningful tattoos.

She is completing her PSW course to graduate by June 2027, aiming to become a certified Personal Support Worker in hospice or home care. Alicia wants to offer comfort, emotional support, compassion, and kindness to make a positive difference in others’ lives.

Rama is a compassionate, curious, and sociable 18-year-old who brings warmth and fun to those around her. Rama has a beautiful smile and is always eager to say hello and greet everyone she meets.

After moving to Canada with her family from Syria, Rama joined the Sunbeam Community at Vos Group Home in 2018. Fun Fact: Rama is bilingual! She understands Arabic and English.

Rama's favourite activities include dancing, dance parties, music and music therapy, school choir, crafts, story time, baking, sampling tasty treats, and going to the movies.

September was another great month at Sunbeam for our staff, clients and volunteers. With many cooking/baking sessions, an outdoor Fall Fair, a BBQ at Fairmount Home, a trip to the CNE and live concerts, there was something for everyone.

At Sunbeam Community & Developmental Services, we honour National Day for Truth and Reconciliation, also known as Orange Shirt Day, on September 30. This day remembers the children who attended residential schools, the survivors, and the lasting impacts on Indigenous communities. Everyone is encouraged to wear orange to show that every child matters.
