Our generous community continues to provide opportunities for growth. A recent donation from Rob and Michele Way of Swiftspace provided funding for two snowblowers. Our IOB crew work with two local landscaping companies as sidewalk crews. Their jobs take them to Cambridge sites and over to Guelph where they clear snow from seven complexes. Crew member Andy works with the newly acquired Toro 24 inch snowblower while Graydon uses a Briggs & Stratton 30 inch. Donations to purchase equipment allows us to add crew members, giving more men the opportunity to learn new skills. Many thanks to Rob and Michele for their generous support to end homelessness.

Hi everyone 👋 I’m Christine, the newest member of The Community Company, joining as our Marketing and Partnerships Lead.

I recently joined after moving to Canada to be closer to my partner’s KW family. My background is in brand strategy and entrepreneurship, with the last seven years spent running my own coffee company. But so far, the energy I’ve felt from seeing our charity partners' impact is stronger than any espresso shot I’ve ever had! ☕️

In my first few months, I’ve had the privilege of rolling up my sleeves with our partners to accomplish big things like Kitchener-Waterloo Library of Things hard-launching their OTF Grow Grant or A Better Tent City fundraising for Tiny City Makers. Or helping Basadi Sewing expand into professional sewing services (picture is of Mujidat and I celebrating at their OTF Launch).

I've had the best time delving into our clients' communities and cannot wait to see what we create together in 2026.

When I have my “work hat off”, I’m embracing my newcomer status by:
🍑 Eating my weight in Ontario peaches during peak season (Redhaven Freestones anyone?)
🌊 Soaking in every lake I can find in the summer (turns out there’s a lot of lakes).
⛸️ Attempting, with varying degrees of success, to ice skate.

I’ll be the voice behind our stories here, and I can’t wait to share more about the innovative work happening with our charity partners and behind our own doors.

If we haven’t met yet, I’d love to connect. Drop a comment below, bonus points if you share a favourite local gem or activity I should try as I explore my new home.

Holiday experience announcement that helps food security programs at Cambridge Food Bank 🎉🎄

FoodForward CFB, a new social enterprise of Cambridge Food Bank hosts team building experiences that make it easy to swap out holiday office parties for something that creates heartwarming impact for the community!

At a recent experience we attended the team made a whopping 188 meals in an hours work in the kitchen. All meals then went directly into the food bank that day. We also explored the food bank on a tour and sampled jams made from their community garden produce!

It's the perfect team building experience and they now offer experiences with a holiday twist.

With every good story, there’s evolution, change, and growth for the characters in it. We have found ourselves at the point in our story, where our community has inspired us to evolve and grow.

You are that community.

This brand evolution is a visual representation of our commitment to you: the people, grass-root organizations, non-profits, charities, funders, and institutions that partner with us to elevate community impact.

As we developed this new brand, the concept of an ecosystem kept coming to mind. From natural environments to vibrant societies, we know that abundance grows from mutual support, symbiosis, and interconnectedness.

We see this every day in the abundant strengths of partners: FoodForward CFB, In Our Backyard, Kitchener-Waterloo Library of Things, Basadi Sewing, Tiny City Makers, Next Gen Photography, and Ontario Nature, to name a few.

We chose imagery of deep-rooted ecosystems to reflect both our shared purpose and our promise: to harness the power of community together, to build a future where everyone can find belonging in an interconnected, abundant society.

Thank you for being the community we get to walk alongside on this journey.

One thing we love about our new logo is how everyone sees different ecosystems within it. What do you see? Let us know in the comments.

It's been over 3 years since I've written an update like this.

I've been relatively quiet on our social media since 2023, but I promise the silence was for good reason.

The Community Company has evolved from selling products to working with charities to build and scale their social enterprises. We have 15+ active projects, and that number is growing every month!

Our charity partners have also invited us into the world of strategic planning and program evaluation, which has taken us to new places like Alberta, Northern Ontario, and Newfoundland.

I'm also incredibly proud to share that we're now a team of 4.

Hiring Zoe in 2022 and Emma in 2023 has required me to learn how to lead a team, while also helping them become leaders in this space. Having them has kept me incredibly busy in the best way, and it meant social media had to take a backseat...
..until today!

We hired Christine in September, and she brings with her years of experience in entrepreneurship, marketing, and authentically building a brand.

Christine has been working behind the scenes on our new brand (anyone notice the logo change? 👀) and will be leading our marketing from here on out. She is eager to share with you all the story of our new brand, some cool projects we've worked on, and exciting new initiatives for the holidays!

But for today, I just want to say a massive thank you for being our community. Community is the constant that grounds us, inspires us, and partners alongside us to create sustainable change. Thank you for being a part of our ecosystem.

If you've made it to the end of this post, it means you believe in our work, and I am incredibly grateful to have you around. I would love it if you left a comment about the first project that introduced you to The Community Company!

Thanks for continuing to support us as we grow.

They interviewed a few of the residents at A Better Tent City and highlighted the social impact this project is creating. One resident shared:

“Whatever is going on in my head, comes out in the artwork somehow. Not everybody understands it, but at least I know I have expressed myself and got it out.”
