The City of Kitchener is inviting community members to come together to learn, connect, and celebrate the launch of Kitchener’s first Newcomer Strategy and the valuable contributions newcomers make to our community.

Do you know someone who could be a Strong Start volunteer?

Suddaby Public School is looking for caring volunteers to support students with early literacy and reading. This could be a former Suddaby parent or grandparent, a retired teacher, or any community member who might enjoy helping a child build their reading skills and confidence.

No teaching experience is necessary. Volunteer hours take place during regular school hours.

LOST CAT 🐈‍⬛ – PLEASE HELP FIND PHOEBE

Missing from: FILBERT St , Kitchener

Name: PHOEBE (pronounced FeeBee)

Phoebe is a small grey tabby. She is almost 5 years old although still appears to be much like a kitten. Phoebe has been missing since Thursday August 20th from Filbert Street area. She does go outside but normally stays close to our home on Filbert street and occasionally visits neighbours on Locust (between Victoria and Mansion). She is very quick and climbs trees easily. She is also very vocal - making clicking sounds. She loves rolling in the dust on the warm sidewalk. She is desperately missed. Please help bring Phoebe home.

- May come when called especially for a treat Quite friendly but doesn’t like to be picked up by strangers.

You are invited to Live on Lydia, a free community street show hosted by the Happy House arts collective on Saturday, August 15, from 12PM - 10PM. The show will take place on Lydia Street between Frederick & Bingeman.

Spend the day enjoying:
- Live music, DJs, comedy, drag, clowning, music bingo & more
- Local artists and a community mural
- Clothing & item swap
- Community potluck
- Kids' activities including bubbles, chalk, toys, and face painting

All are welcome at this inclusive and co-creative event, and we would love for you to participate and create with us!

Join in by bringing donations for the clothing/item swap, making a favourite dish to share with your community, expressing your creativity, bringing your art/wares to swap or sell, dressing up in costume, or simply joining the audience!
