Everyone give a warm welcome back to Toque!
This will be Toque's 4th year at camp Lau-Ren having now done an even split of 2 years as a camper and 2 as a counsellor! Toque has so many favorite parts of camp, the most favorite notably being the amazing food! 🍽️ Toque is a big fan of spending time in the craft hall making art and crafting with the campers every week! She also really loves to sing Land of the Silver Birch, a camp classic, around the campfire! 🎶 One super fun fact about Toque is that she collects dinosaur figurines and she is always looking to grow her collection so if you ever wanted to give her a gift or need to bribe her this is a great place to start 🦕 Just kidding 👀
All jokes aside however, we are so excited to have Toque at camp this summer and know they are going to bring lots of fun and enthusiasm to the camp community as always! 🏕️

Staff Training Weekend 2026!
This past weekend at Camp Lau-Ren all of our staff for the summer gathered together for training weekend! 🏕️
Training weekend is an essential part of getting our team ready for the summer and feeling confident about their abilities!
This weekend is always jampacked with lessons and opportunities for new staff to get acquainted with Camp and the way things run as well as an opportunity for returning staff to share their knowledge and words of encouragement and advice with the new members of the team! It’s also an important time for the team to bond and get to know each other before the summer so that when the campers arrive we are a well oiled machine!
This weekend we went through everything from daily tasks like campfire planning 🎵, canoeing 🛶 and dealing with tough situations to emergency protocols like first aid, fire safety 🔥 and wildlife awareness 🐻. We are so incredibly excited for each and every one of the members of our team to join us this summer as they each bring a unique perspective and quality to Camp!
We would also like to say a huge thank you to all of the leaders and directors that showed up this weekend in order to help run training sessions and coach us all on how we can be the best versions of ourselves possible in order to have a great summer all around! 🫶And finally shout out to our awesome kitchen team for all the great food they made for us this weekend! 🧑‍🍳

Allow me to introduce you to two new members of our Camp Lau-Ren staff team this year Sugar 🍭(left) and Spice🌶️ (right)!
Sugar and spice are a set of twins 👯‍♀️ that have been coming to camp together for 2 years and we are so excited to welcome them to the Camp Lau-Ren staff family this summer! They are both joining us as counsellors this year, so let me tell you a little bit more about them!

Sugar is very excited to be back at camp this summer 🏕️ where she will get to continue making amazing Camp memories both with her sister, old friends and new friends! Sugar is a big fan of outdoor activities, such as
games in the field, free time around the rock and especially swimming down at the beach 🏖️! Outside of Camp, she also plays lots of sports such as hockey 🏒 do soccer and volleyball! Sugar is also really looking forward to getting to do some fun crafts 🎨this summer as she has a special talent for making embroidered bracelets and loves to make art!

Spice🌶️, very much like her sister is a big fan of arts and crafts 🎨 and is looking forward to spending some time in the craft hall this summer making embroidered bracelets, and perhaps getting to paint some pottery! She's also very excited to meet new people and spend lots of time outdoors playing games in the field and beach volleyball 🏐 down by the waterf! A fun fact about spice is that she is bilingual and outside of Camp, she plays hockey, volleyball and soccer with her sister!

Both of these amazing new counsellors are really looking forward to being more involved in the Camp community and getting to see what Camp is like from a different perspective! They share many favourite Camp memories, one of which, being when they found Waldo together with a bunch of their friends last summer O! We hope they will make many more amazing memories like this one this summer as well! We are so excited to have them joining our team! 🫶

Welcome back Ca$h! 💵
Ca$h has been coming to camp for over 5 years now and is excited to be back at camp again this summer as a lead counsellor for his second year on staff!
Cash loves sports and spending time doing fun activities at camp! Outside of Camp he also plays competitive hockey🏒 and is a big sports fan so he is always ready to jump into a game and have fun with campers and staff during the summer☀️. Cash is a very chill and cool under pressure type of counsellor that creates a very welcoming and relaxed environment in his cabins. 🏕️ However, he also knows how to have fun and will really get into the games that we play at camp like counsellor hunt and high 9!
We are so excited to be welcoming Ca$h back to camp again this year in this new leadership role and we can’t wait to see all the exciting things he will accomplish this summer! Welcome back Ca$h! 💵

Everyone say hello to Retro! 👋
Retro has spent nearly a decade at camp and is now back for his 6th year on staff! His favourite part of camp has always been the amazing people and welcoming environment that makes Camp Lau-Ren feel like home for him and so many others from all around. 🌎
Retro’s journey through camp began as a camper, then he came to camp as an LIT and even participated in one of the famous 10-day canoe trips we used to do 🛶 which remains one of his favourite camp memories to this day, he is now back and spending the summer on the beach as our second Co-Waterfront Director with Nessie! His goofy personality and willingness to go the extra mile are just a few qualities that make him a great member of the team! Outside of camp, Retro recently completed a degree in mathematics➕ and is also proudly left-handed ✋. He also loves to experiment with cooking different recipes on the weekends and when he is home from camp, so he is always happy to lend a helping hand to the kitchen staff when they need some extra help!
We are so excited to have Retro back for another summer filled with campfires 🔥, canoe trips and unforgettable memories with campers and staff alike! ☀️

Let’s meet the man behind everyone's favorite part of camp, the food!! This is Sonic!⚡️
This will be Sonic’s 4th summer at camp and he has worked his way up in the Kitchen🧑‍🍳, starting as an assistant cook and he is now back for the second time as head cook! Of course his favorite part about camp is the food and getting to fuel everyone for all of the day's activities! Sonic’s personal favourite camp meal is shepherd’s pie 🥧 and he loves to spend time reading down on the beach when he has free time! A fun fact about Sonic is that he has a six year old pet gecko named Zuko🦎 and he loves the rain, particularly at camp where he believes it feels just a little extra special!
We are so excited to have Sonic back again leading our awesome team of cooks and we can't wait to taste all of the amazing camp food! Welcome back Sonic!

Let’s give a warm welcome back to our next returning counsellor, Icarus! ⚡️
That’s right everyone Icarus is back this year for her second year as a counsellor and we are so excited to have her back! Icarus is really looking forward to spending another summer at camp ⛺️where she will get to meet and be friend so many new members of staff and campers and will get to reconnect with many of the camp friends she made last year as well. Her favourite Camp song is This land is your land and she is really looking forward to singing it at campfires this summer! She is also very excited to do archery again 🎯, she certainly has the technique down pat so if you have the opportunity to be at archery 🏹 with Icarus, be sure to ask her for tips! An extra little thing about Icarus that makes her just that much cooler, is the fact she likes to sew and make her own clothes! 🪡🧵
We are so excited to have Icarus back at camp again this summer where we are sure she will make so many new amazing memories and be a big part of the campers amazing memories of Camp as well! 📸 Welcome back, Icarus! We are so happy to have you!

Everyone say hello to Cali! 🌊
Cali has spent an impressive 10 years at Camp Lau-Ren, first spending 7 years as a camper and this summer will officially mark her third year as a counsellor! 🏕️
Cali’s favourite part of camp is the strong bonds that form between staff and between campers every single summer. It is truly special to watch and be a part of people creating lifelong friendships and of course forming some of your own too! Cali especially loves the final campfire of the week when everyone sings a song called Mmm I Want to Linger together and reflects on all the wonderful memories made during the week.
Cali also loves spending time in the craft hall 🎨 where she gets to help campers make creative projects and see the cool projects that get made all throughout the summer! Some of her favourite camp memories come from tent out nights ⛺ where we all get to stay up a little later to look at the stars, tell camp stories and spend the night in tents in the field with new friends.
Cali is especially looking forward to all of the beach days we will have this summer 🏖️ and we are so excited to have her back on staff for another incredible season! ☀️

Everyone welcome Beetle to the staff team! Beetle has dreamed of becoming a counsellor ever since her very first summer at camp and now that dream is finally coming true! 🏕️ Beetle has spent the last 6 years at camp, including last summer where she attended our awesome LIT program and now we are so excited to have her joining us for another great summer, this time as a counsellor!
Some of Beetle’s favourite camp moments include singing Puff the Magic Dragon around the campfire, making bracelets in the craft hall or during free time, hanging out on the beach 🏖️ as well as learning new skills and trying new things with friends! A few fun facts about Beetle are that she loves history and Greek mythology ⚡ and hopes one day to work on a film set! 🎬
One of Beetle’s most meaningful camp memories was her final campfire as a camper, where the whole group spent the evening singing songs and soaking in every moment with their new friends ❤️. Beetle is so excited to meet new people, make more fun camp memories and step into her role as a counsellor like she’s always wanted! ☀️ Welcome to the Team Beetle, we can’t wait to see everything you’ll accomplish this summer!

Everyone say a big hello to Lochness also known as Nessie!
This will be Nessies 5th year as a membe of staff at camp Lau-Ren and we couldn’t be more excited to have her joining the team again this year! She has always been a part of our amazing waterfront lifeguard 🛟 team but this
year is stepping into the position of our first co waterfront director 🌊, where her quick thinking, ability to stay calm under pressure and leadership capabilities will all be huge assets to her and the rest of the team! 🏖️
One of her favorite parts of camp is of course getting to go on canoe trips 🛶 and spend time with friends during down time! Before discovering show jumping which she did for a few years, Nessie was a ballerina 🩰 and she credits her grace and elegance on the beach and in the water to her time doing ballet. Her favourite camp song is Puff the Magic Dragon 🐉, even though it makes her cry every single time. She is a big fan of beach days which makes perfect sense but she also loves camp games, and spending time outdoors with friends. 🌳
We are so very excited to have her back on staff again this summer and we can’t wait to see her realize her full potential in this new role! Welcome back Lochness! 🫶
