Mobile Art Studio (MAS) believes in the value of participatory art practices as a means of urban community building. MAS offers a transitory creative lab space that brings art out of the gallery and into public space. It treats art making as a vital creative practice whose accessibility can foster community engagement within city spaces. Drawing on popularized forms of "pop up" events in urban con

texts, the project will develop a mobile art studio that stages art making workshops in the Kitchener-Waterloo region. MAS thinks that increased access to art materials and making practices can encourage and expand public discussions of lived experiences within the city.
