Waterloo Region is facing an unprecedented rise in demand for youth mental health support, and this week, our community proved that we are truly stronger together. 💜
On Wednesday night, a sold-out room of local advocates, donors, and clinical leaders gathered at Rupert Street Recording Studio for our third annual Stronger Together Mental Health Dinner, raising an incredible $80,000 for child and youth care at Waterloo Regional Health Network - WRHN.
The funds will directly support WRHN’s piloting of the Integrated Collaborative Care Project for Child and Adolescent Psychiatry—a first-of-its-kind model in Ontario. By bringing child psychiatry, pediatrics, family physicians, and allied health teams together, improving coordination of care for children and youth experiencing mental health challenges. In just three years, this event has raised more than $195,000!
The evening also marked the presentation of our Bloom Awards, honouring those breaking stigma and advancing mental health support:
Scott Tonelli (Community Impact): Raised over $40,000 through his Change 4 Change holiday light show.
Steven Page (Mental Health Advocacy): Shared his personal journey and treated guests to an intimate studio performance.
Tracy Valko (Mental Health Advocacy): Event founder and the driving force behind this initiative since day one.
Maddi Kolberg (Patient Resilience): Turned family loss and a mental health journey into fierce advocacy.
An extraordinary evening like this depends on partners who care deeply about this region. Our sincere thanks to our presenting sponsor, Generations Collective, along with sponsors SV Law, the Goodman Family Foundation, BMO, and Rupert Street Recording.
To everyone who joined us, thank you for ensuring no young person has to face their hardest moments alone.
