Happy Transformational Tuesday!
This week we are touching on the most prevalent health issues experienced by veterans in Canada that we are most likely to encounter and recognize in pharmacy practice. Being aware of how these conditions can compound on top of one another and impact patient quality of life is important. By screening for these issues and offering supports/referrals as appropriate, pharmacists can play a very big role in helping Canadian veterans access the healthcare they need without delay. Hope this helps! 😊

UW CAN is hosting a Remembrance Day Poppy Fundraiser on November 7th, 8th and 10th. We will be selling poppy’s for $2.00 each or your donation of choice at the School of Pharmacy dispensary. Poppy’s serve as a symbol to honour Canada’s Veterans, to remember those brave individuals who sacrificed their lives for a brighter future. The funds that are raised will be donated to The Royal Canadian Legion to directly support Veterans and their families who are in need.

To show your support, please drop by the dispensary! If you are interested in being entered into a draw to win 1 of 2 $20 gift cards, follow these steps: 1) Take a picture of your poppy, 2) Post it to your Instagram story, and 3) Tag our Instagram account .can. Please note that we are only accepting cash donations. We look forward to seeing you soon!❤️

Happy Transformational Tuesday everyone! :)

This week we have a podcast recommendation for you regarding veterans and substance abuse. Many veterans around the world have substance use disorders and are at higher risk of addiction. In this Vets First podcast, we hear from two army veterans, Trever Siver and Henry Uken who discuss their battles with addiction and their journey to sobriety. The Vets First podcast also offers interviews with Veterans who have other specific conditions and from researchers who are studying those topics as well. Check out this podcast at the following link: https://news.va.gov/94842/vets-first-podcast-s2-e4-two-candid-discussions-about-drug-use-disorders/
